6 out of 20

Never understood the gran hate. Man was definitely a top OC in college football. Can't think of anyone else that could switch gears on such short notice.

Unfortunately he chose poorly his protege and was a victim of his own success which killed wr/QB recruiting.

I love where the program is today but it would've never been possible without him and his ability to completely change schemes in shockingly short amounts of time

Love him or hate him Eddie Gran coached 6 of the top 20 RB at UK. That is quite an accomplishment.
Gran also coached some of the top RBs in the SEC while at other schools. And the 2019 offense he created for Bowden was genius. Gran copied Navy's O, their QB(Malcom Perry) ran for over 2000 yds that year, think he was in the NFL as a WR at one time. I think Perry is actually from KY. Anyway, he was a solid RB coach but probably not completely cut out to be an OC or college HC.

Gran was over committed to his old QB coach Darin Henshaw. That dude developed absolutely nothing during his time at UK.
I think if Gran would have parted was with Henshaw it would have gave him another year or 2 to improve the passing game.
Not saying UK should have kept him or not just saying he was all in on DH.

I think parting ways from Gran was good for the program and bringing in Coan and then Coan bringing in Levis.

But yes Gran could coach the RB great thats for sure.

Eddie Gran is a great running backs coach. John Settle has at least as good of reputation if not better. But honestly, except for Crod I think our backs have been a little underwhelming since he’s been here .

Eddie Gran was a very good offensive coordinator, he just wasn’t a modern offensive coordinator. That’s why they made a change.

ITS COAN

Gran is a very good coordinator. The problem was because of QB injuries, etc., we had become so run oriented they could not convince quality receivers and QBs to come to UK. The perception among recruits was UK wanted to be a ground and pound team but I don't think that was the truth. I think other teams also spread those rumors to gain an advantage in recruiting. Gran adapted to the situations he had and made the most out of it. It was amazing that we had the offense we did considering at times everyone knew we could not pass the ball effectively. Had we had players who could throw and catch, he would have had us throwing it and catching it. UK had to make the change to break the perception that we would were not interested in throwing the football. I thought he did a really good job for the limitations he had to deal with.

I think you put it very well. He played to team strengths. When TW went down and SS came into game he was throwing ever where on UF. Got hurt and we went to ground and pound with Bowden. I really enjoyed Lynn!!

I agree and our O was so predictable that the opposing D could call our O plays n still couldn’t stop us
