4pt play.

Obi Wan Mind GIF by Star Wars

This isn't the foul you're looking for.

This is something the rules committee needs to look at several players throughout the years have done this and nobody ever gets called for leg kicking. You can’t get within 3 feet of the shooter if they are going to let the shooter do this and benefit from it.
Which is funny…because I’ve seen it called against us multiple times in the last 2 seasons….but never see it in any other games

Complain about the refs all you want, but fouling three point shooters is becoming a pattern. They're not all bad calls. Something that needs to be addressed in practice for sure.

I think they’re calling it on our guys for not giving the shooter room to land. The problem, at least on that play, is that the player jumped forward and came down within the 3 point line. If you jump behind the 3 point line and land in front of it, there should be no expectation of room to land. The defender has the right to that space. They need to be watching the feet. If they jump forward it can’t be a foul.

It wasn't a foul, he kicked his leg out. Last game dude flopped and wasn't touched. How you not seeing that?

Been talking about this for a few days now.

You have to coach to how they are calling it.

By rule you cant move into a players space that he jumped from. Thats not the problem.

Even if you're close to the shooter and jump straight up and the shooter flops or kicks legs out...they'll fall for it. Almost every single time, they fall for it more than they call the foul if the shooters hand is actually hit.

As much as they get up on Brea, he should just fall down every time.

The rule about giving shooters room to land is good in theory. They’re in a vulnerable position and can really screw up a foot or ankle if they land on someone after taking a jumper. Frustratingly though, the offensive players have gotten pretty good at fooling the refs into calling it more often than it should be. I think they’re just seeing a jump shooter hit the floor and assuming they weren’t given room on some of these plays, when the reality is that the shooters are kicking their legs out and/or launching themselves backwards as they shoot.

Remember when that used to be called a travel back in the day you couldn't take 3 steps back then shoot it let alone 2 he took 3 steps back on that one if you watch the replay a baby step back then 2 more steps.

You are right that they have not all been bad calls. However, too many of them have been.

By comparison, Oweh had a 3pt shot during the game when he didn't really have room to land either. He spread his feet and landed against the MSU defender. I don't want the UK players going to the ground, but they may HAVE to if that's the only way the official will call it.

My preference would be just to quit calling the flop that shooters are doing.
