4K Ultra HD tv's

I apologize as I did not read everything in the thread and this might have been covered.

I recently bought a Samsung 55" ...6700 something around 1K and the damned matching curved sound bar ($650)

Too much to list here. But think long and hard before going this route ( I might have got a lemon)

But, the ARC connections are a pain in the ass and are known to cause problems. Don't just read the "fluff" reviews find some forums and read on it. I finally got the salesman/rep to admit a lot of people have problems with it. At first made it sound like Operator Error. But it is more than that. Both manuals had setting mistakes in them.

Just think long and hard. I believe Samsung should have never brought these products to market.

Oh the sound bar. looks great, sounds good for about $150 not $650. My old $250 Boston Acoustic sound bar kicked is a$$ all over the place with just RCA cables.

Broke down and got the Vizo recommended on CNET, not 4K but have the price and works like a champ. This will end up being my workshop tv eventually anyway.

Yamaha SRT 1500 sound plate that I wanted in the first place but impulsed the other. I really like it. Not quite the Sonos I really wanted for the house. But I do like this.

I was looking at buying the Vizio 70". I have a space for it now. I have two 47" TV's but since I saw the 70" up close I wanted it. I am waiting as long as I can for a deal to come up but may go ahead and splurge. Thanks for the tip on the clear motion effect. I have read some good reviews on Vizio. (Vizio M702i-B3 &0" 1080p 240Hz Class LED Smart TV) I hope it works out. (I'm frugal but darn I want to spend on this...)

A few weeks ago, I was able to pick up the Vizio M70-C3 as an open box from Best Buy for $1250. No box, manuals or remote (purchased one from e-bay), but at that price, it was well worth it. Go ahead and splurge. TV is great and fills up a big wall nicely.

I bet payday loans finance a lot of Vizio purchases. I personally hate them but folks do like to buy cheap shit so more power to you. Enjoy your Vizio with your gas station bought lobster and boxed wine. Woo Hoo! Here's a Tijuana Rolex for $5 when you're done.

Just doesn't seem like there is nearly enough 4K content to warrant a new 4k TV right now. If anything, build your stereo system now, as most of those components stand the test of time (unlike a TV), and then splurge on a 4k TV in a year or two.

Speaking of stereo equipment... is there anything other than art/antiques that APPRECIATES in value? McIntosh speakers somehow go up in price over the years. Pretty crazy.

+1 for the Paddock style response.

I trust that the couch in your ivory tower puts your eyeballs no more than 8' from your 60" 4K TV. Otherwise there is no discernible difference in resolution over a 1080p Vizio.

Bought a Samsung 4k on Black Friday. Also got a new Denon 4K receiver. Was going to wait, but one of our other tv's went out and I needed to replace it so I decided to upgrade and move one of my existing tv's into the other room. I watched some Netflix in 4K last night and anything shot in 4k is amazing, but everything else they say is in 4k is nowhere near 4k quality.

If I did not need a new tv I would have definitely waited. I do agree with what someone else said. You can buy receivers with all of the technology now and wait for the TV to come down as 4K programming becomes more mainstream. Be prepared to spend at $600 on a good future proof receiver. Be careful getting the cheaper ones. Many do not have all of the things you will need down the road.

I have the 60" 4k Samsung. Love it.

Word of caution. It is amazing how ugly most of the ESPN talking heads are in ultra high definition.
I got a 60" Samsung UHD too...and agree...man you can see every blemish. I love my tv so far.

The correct formula is that the better the picture quality then the uglier the ESPN talking heads become. Call it whatever you want to, but those are the results and they are unequivocal.

Next TV I get will have HDR. I haven't seen one in person, but all of the articles about it indicate that it is a much more noticeable difference in quality than going from 1080p to 4K.

I have 2 plasma Panasonic's (42 and 58), both 1080p which I love but had to buy a new TV for my living room. Went with a 55" Samsung 4k mainly because it was as inexpensive as most 1080p models in that size range. Salesman said I would notice a huge difference even in 1080i Directv or even more so on bluray. I was doubtful but I have to say that it is a pretty big difference. Whether the broadcast is 4k or not, it's a unbelievable picture.

Do any Paddockers have huge projection screens?

I caught the Bengals game on my cousins' 110" yesterday and now I feel like re-prioritizing everything in my life in order to finish my basement and create a similar set up as quickly as possible.

Huge screens with projectors are great but the frequent (at least more frequent than you would expect) bulb replacement is not.

I have owned several Vizios and have not had any problem. I have had a problem with Samsung though.

I skipped the screen all together. Have a wall in the basement with a light grey color and looks great. I didn't go crazy with the purcahse of a projector and very happy with the outcome. I think I have 120" , that was the max size I could get with the distance.

Do it. Watching games on it is great as well as movies.

You can also purcahse special paint instead of buying a screen, but I am satisfied with the picture as it is. The paint runs about $150/gallon.
