**** 2015 NBA Draft Thread ****

ESPN just said UK is the first team with 3 #1 overalls? I thought Duke had 3?
Yeah, NBA Radio said the same thing. Trying to recall the 2 Dukies who went first.

You know, for all of UK's accomplishments and tradition (the List!), the one area where we were lacking was in all time greats. We just didn't have the list of names that Carolina or UCLA, for example, have. In a remarkably short time - the 6 years since Cal got here - that's all changed....

Right - there are guys like that - Carlos Boozer, Al Jefferson, etc, who are double double machines and have post moves for days, but their defense is lousy so they can never lead a team to greatness.

Yea I think Al Jefferson is the best comp for him.

Irving and Brand, and some other guy in the 60s apparently.

When they picked Okafor I scoffed. My wife asked why. I told her he was overrated due the Duke bias with officiating. As I said this they showed a highlight of him making a move to the basket where he commits a blatant double dribble before picking the ball up and taking two steps toward the rim to score.

The little things in life that make it worth living.

Yea no way they can be on the floor together a lot. Cousins needs space to go to work on offense too
I,don't get this . Cousins plays more like a PF. And Willie can guard multiple positions Cousins doesn't play great defense. I think they will compliment each other well. Cousins is a beast on the boards and on offense. His numbers are insane. WCS can protect the rim and get cousins out of double teams because cousins is an excellent passer

Kyrie Irving, Elton Brand and a guy from 1963 that had an attitude problem and went to the ABA

they all would have been millionaires had they gone to Mississippi State.
Nope. You realize that Cauley-Stein was a recruit ranked in the 40s, and KU didn't even look at him, right? That's one example of how a particular coach and program can make all the difference. Another is the case of Samardo Samuels, who was the number 1 overall recruit his senior year in high school. Went to Louisville, and after 2 yearsunder Pitino, he was drafted in the second round and had no NBA career to speak of.

This idea that it doesn't matter where a highly rated recruit goes to school, that they'll be in the NBA soon enough anyway, is demonstrably false. But it won't die......

I agree about Stanley Johnson when he's engaged. He just doesn't seem to have the same motor as Winslow has. He takes way too many plays off from what I saw.

Did I hear Bilas correctly claim that WCS only average 6.5 rebounds per 40 minutes? That number is actually 10 rebounds per 40.

WCS actually rebounded his best as a freshman. In recent seasons, he has been asked to guard so much on the perimeter and has played beside such other good rebounders that it's no surprise that his numbers have slipped (ever so slightly). Bilas is taking shots here without context. Bad form.

Duke's 3 #1 picks:

1963 Art Heyman

1999 Elton Brand

2011 K. Irving

Darryl

Man, bad night for Dukies so far. Both Okafor and Winslow taking a fall below where they were projected. Ten picks in and poor Winslow's still sitting there.

Winslow falling to Miami at 10 possibly, wow. Nuggets and Heat fans are ecstatic tonight. Pat Riley wins again.
