Found this article from just after Calipari's first season at Kentucky: http://blog.al.com/press-register-sports/2010/06/finebaum_calipari_needs_to_hav.html

Not that I watched his show anyway (the combined probably 10 minutes I've ever seen of his show were so dry and boring, I questioned how he got such a nice gig), but I just thought others may be interested in what the supposed voice of the South thinks of Calipari. He might act like he respects Cal now, but deep down he's just your average ignorant Calipari hater.

to be fair a lot of UK fans felt the same way before he was hired
to the credit of many of the UK fans that felt that way
after Cal was hired they did their research and found out the truth, that Cal was not guilty of any wrong doing (per the NCAA)

I guess that's fair. To be honest, I don't remember my exact feelings about Cal while he was at Memphis, but I can tell you either way they weren't as strong as what Finebaum apparently felt. I guess he is paid to give "strong" opinions though.

Would be interesting to hear Finebaum's response to this article now and if his tune changed, when and why?

Wow, I use to kind of like the guy, but over time I have learned he truly is a troll. He would never make such comments about Urban Meyer or Nick Saban.

i would love hearing him trying to explain himself
i wonder if he would do the same research that UK fans did, or would he still base his opinions on ignorance like a lot of haters still do?

Finebaum was raised in Memphis, so I'm sure like most from that area they were upset when Calipari left for UK.

Living in Alabama, I can tell you be careful how much credibility you place in Balls Pinefarm, err Paul Finebaum. He prides himself not on journalism but on rumor mongering. He loves gutting coaches and has one or two scalps on his belt between Auburn and AU. If he is loyal to any school, it would be to UT. I think that is his alma mater but I'm not certain on that point.

He does have more credibility than North Carolina, but then so does a cobra.
