2 pm ESPN U PJ Washington plays

I can't wait for this class. If we land Mo Bamba to go with Richards, Vanderbilt, and Washington we will have one of the best frontcourts I've seen. Ever

Willie Stein, Lyles, Townes, Lee, and Poythress would probably disagree with you. If we get them it will easily be our 2nd greatest top to bottom depth wise.

Yep game is about to come on now. Just finished watching the number 1 soph R.J Barrett dominate to a tune of 24pts 13 reb 5 ast in the first game

PJ looks solid, but he needs to be careful about reaching in collegiate level.

He definitely does look like passing forward. I like that, but one would have been better off him just shooting it.

Agree with Announcers about him having to work on defense to defend the sf. He can play it on offense but the key to playing a position is can you defend it. There will be games early where he fan base will curse him out due to defense on a very good small forward. Also agree with Cal telling him he needs to lose 10 pounds in order to move better while defending the sf position

Cal has always wanted to have a big line up. Wenyen is likely starting at the PF position since he can't drive past any type of SF, that way he will have a chance to drive past slow PF if he works on his handles this summer. Hump maybe starts at C unless Nick shows to be more ready early than projected. SKJ could fit into the starting mix depending on how his summer goes. All are moot points if Bamba comes or Bam returns.

Also possible that Vanderbilt starts at SF because he's a better defender on the perimeter, and we know Cal loves guys who defend

sounds like UK wants him to come in as a SF. Maybe message was that front court is loaded.

That's the way I interpret it. With Bamba or Bam returning, along with Richards and at least two of Hump, Gabriel, Wynyard and SKJ, we'll be pretty deep in the post. The 3 might be the best spot for him with that group and for his long-term pro prospects.

Some Pessimistic Posters in the McDonald's game thread said he was only about 5'11'' or so. Exaggerating, but you know the type. Any sense of his true height?

He's 6'8.
This class is gigantic. Shooting guards and small forwards (a la Porter and Knox) were 6'9 and 6'10, and he was always on the floor with them. Bamba was always on the floor, and so on.

He's still going to be a big dude as a college small forward.

Thanks. Maybe it was Jarred Vanderbilt who one or two of the McD AA game posters claimed was radically undersized. That game thread was a convocation of the miserable.

I don't think so. I think we just have some fairly dumb people here. Jarred Vanderbilt has actually grown to 6'9, which is absurd when you consider that he could very well be our backup PG next season. I could see us using a swing offense next season.

what is absurd is that folks think this is true

A few things I noticed was he's very smooth and doesn't get in a hurry. He's a very good passer for his size. He was way better in a game setting than he was in the McDonalds AA game setting. I'm excited to see what he can do next year.

Yes, it's absurd that recruiting directors like Evan Daniels and Paul Biancardi think it is true, two recruiting directors who were at the McDonald's practices and games and seen him in person, and have been doing this for years so they should know a thing or two about player height. Quite absurd.

Was very impressed with PJ's game.

He struggle with foul trouble but he did a lot of different thing.

But my favorite part of his game was the passing. Made some good passing in the game. Recorded 3 but i felt like he had 5.

Washington looked great. Love how people say this is an average class and we will struggle because they watched the McDonald's game. This was an actual game setting. P.J. will be a very good player next year.
