I think they can, but its only supposed to be if its severe I think so you have to rely on a refs judgment on player safety. At least I think thats what Ive heard.

This is the second game where we've had a numbers advantage when a player was out on the opposite end of the floor and the refs stopped play when they're supposed to let the action continue until the player becomes an obstacle. WTH
