The foundation of the Mark Stoops method of building a program was “recruit and develop”. With one game to go, name some of the players that look significantly improved. I don’t see a lot of names, but maybe you do.
Defense:
DL - Rybka looks better. He’s the only one. Others appear to have regressed. Very disappointing concerning the depth at that spot.
LB - ? The lack of development/improvement from guys at the OLB over the last 2-3 years is concerning. We get NOTHING from that position.
Corner - Hardaway wasn’t even playable last season, he’s made some incremental improvements, but is still a liabilty from an SEC standpoint. Lack of development in guys like Dunn and Addison has been a problem.
Safety - i haven’t seen a single player improve or develop at this position for years. it’s pitiful.
Offense:
QB - welp.
Oline - it’s a joke at this point. We have OLD guys on the first team who don’t look like they’ve improved at all since they first arrived. I asked the question a few weeks ago, which olinemen can you point to that have significantly improved over the last 3-4 seasons? Flax got better. Anyone else?
TE - lol
WR- Key looks much improved. I can’t point to another WR who looks like they’re better this year than any year prior. That’s been a staple of the Stoops era.
RB - DSK looks much improved.
So, as much as we bitch about the coaching decisions on the field each sataurday, the lack of development for much of this roster is equally concerning. Did UK just load up on bad evaluations? Or are the positon coaches just not getting it done? Something is definitely amiss in the development department in Mark Stoops’ program.
