Everybody’s favorite politician, Matt Jones, just said on his show that Khalil Whitney came on EJ Montgomery’s Instagram live and made this comment. What do you make of it?

I think it means EJ is 100% gone and also speaks volumes of how awful and negative social media is.

You know EJ has spent two years here and has by all accounts been a good teammate and put forth effort. I don't think he is ready, Cal probably doesn't and most of BBN likely doesn't, nor do NBA teams/scouts.

Khalil Whitney is a quitter...mid season at that. 100% selfish.

Those are two different scenarios in my book. I wouldn't go on Twitter and hound either of them but The Dragon just quit...not the same as EJ regardless of what decision he makes..

Whitney is obviously in his ear though based off of what happened last night (assuming it’s true). Not good imo

Why would Kahlil Whitney saying this mean EJ Montgomery is 100% gone ? You act like Montgomery is the one that said it .

If you leave any school especially in the middle of the year you’re going to get a lot of heat towards your way .
I didn’t see it, but I envision Whitney saying it and EJ smirking and sort of agreeing with him.

I think they’re very different. Don’t tweet at kids. Don’t tag them.

But I don’t believe Whitney or EJ know what Cats illustrated is.

Moreso if I have to lie and say EJ is so great so he’ll return—he needs to just go ahead and go.
I used to believe this was the case, but with how kids live on the internet these days I’m sure they have stumbled across this site. All it takes is one of them or even one of their friends to point them to it. I’m sure it’s happened.

I think EJ takes the criticism a bit harder than others, and people who go at these guys on social media need to get a life. However, if you want to play pro sports you better grow some thick skin. I’d like to see EJ come back, because I do think he could take a Richards type leap, and do a lot for his confidence.

Whitney quit mid year. You aren’t going get any love doing that stuff. Look at some of our other transfers, BBN still followed and rooted for them.

It’s a shame none of these kids get to see how much Kentucky fans actually love them if they stay 3 or 4 years. Look at Miller/Hawkins (I know they’re KY boys too but still). It’s pretty simple imo. We love the ones who stay and improve and the ones who are awesome and ready to leave. We don’t care much for the ones who bolt out of here when they’re nowhere near ready.

leave kentucky the right way and they will all love you

you didn't kahlil. tyrese did, we love him, nick will leave and we love him. SGA did and we love him.

if you played your tail off, improved and/or are projected to get guaranteed money then go, and the majority will respect and salute. quit in the middle of the season because it's not going your way or fail to show any consistent effort and lack any basic skill that can translate and leave....yeah that's stupid and you will get hate on social media. this group is where orton, diallo, vanderbilt, skal register.

it's never ok to attack a player on social media, but the divide is clear why some get praise and others get hate.

Screw Whitney. I hope Cal cuts all ties with him. Dude will be erased from ever having a single Kentucky tie.

..and no, it's not cause he didn't win a title, or left a year early.. HE. QUIT. ON. HIS. TEAMMATES. He committed the worst team sport crime you can.

Seriously, Whitney could really mess with decisions and recruiting, hopefully our school handles this.

Update: Our fans should go to twitter (if they use it, I don't) to show EJ love and that it's his decision to make.

Social media IS a negative cesspool of alt-leftists and just shitty people in general but it’s just odd (I don’t mean to be confrontational) to see you lament about being super negative when you’re legitimately one of the most negative posters on this board at times my man...

Just because some consider the truth negative doesn’t make it right or wrong.

The next time that Orton, Hami, Vanderbilt, and Skal took the court, they were on an NBA roster.

Stud players laugh at guys like Whitney as they know they can produce and it won't sway their decisions to come here. If it does, then we dodged a bullet.

I don't think anyone hates Khalil Whitney. Everyone thought he should stay, learn some basketball skills to go along with his athleticism, and take his turn. The problem with these kids is that they believe they are either failures, or Cal didn't utilize them properly, if they can't leave straight to the NBA, after one year. It is inconceivable to them, and their parents, that they just weren't ready to go, and that their HS games just didn't equate to college, and they needed time to adjust/learn. They want instant gratification, and they had been told throughout HS and AAU that being ranked in the top 15 in HS meant they would be driving Lamborghinis within a year. They are unwilling to wait. If that means UK fans hate them, then they are as clueless about that, as they are their draft status.

If this all pans out to be accurate...I think Whitney takes the spot away from Jarred Vanderbilt as Cal player fans liked the least. Whitney's numbers were straight garbage, he was being beaten out by Juzang for back up wing minutes and quits mid-season....and he is talking about UK fans with issues?

its not about if you leave or not. its about if you are good or not. twins, diallo, ej, nick, etc...fans have crushed these kids over the years. fans were relentless on nick for 2 years, then he was good and they love him. of course fans think its just criticism but a portion of it isnt. and the volume and velocity of it is difficult at times. and if you are going to have to deal with that crap, you might as well get paid for it
