    Lamont Butler

This! Easy to see how many people are conditioned to the 5 star 18 year olds who are all hype and no experience. This dude is a player. Starter on a team that has been better than us the last few years. Defensive stud who has averaged near double figures the last couple years. Great piece.

    Richie Saunders staying at BYU

I saw it as more of a “I’ll give my ex coach a look while I wait to see who is hired and think about it” kind of deal. If he really wanted to leave BYU he would have been visiting more schools. He is married, so there’s the issue of having to move his wife with him as well. So between his faith...

    Richie Saunders staying at BYU

Most likely the kid wanted to stay at a Mormon school with his personal values in mind.

    NIL tweet for JQ

Sheesh. This is getting ridiculous. Not to mention the kid’s dad is over the top. No way kids should be making that kind of dough for college ball.

Cal left, BBN did not chase him off!!!

lol. First. I’m glad he’s gone. And this isn’t something I’ve told myself. The bridges you speak of are exactly why Mitch was happy to get rid of him.

    Potential way to Fix NIL

It’s the portal. Quick fix, the Initial scholarship is a 2 year contract to that school. Allow 1 transfer without sitting a year. Any other transfer requires a 1 year wait to play.

Cal left, BBN did not chase him off!!!

He didn’t have Mitch’s backing. He had a huge buyout’s backing. Mitch/the Crafts have wanted rid of Cal for a few years. Mitch never wanted Cal but he had the donor support until a few years ago.

Cal left, BBN did not chase him off!!!

Don’t care how it happens. Just happy to turn a new page in KY basketball.

Cal left, BBN did not chase him off!!!

Mitch ran Cal off. Cal didn’t really want to leave. Cal wanted more money for NIL and tried to use Ark for leverage. Mitch was looking for a reason to get rid of him without the buyout and found his shot. Once it leaked, Cal couldn’t come back to UK from it. His arrogance cost him, like it...

How do NBA teams afford to pay players so much?

College basketball doesn’t have a following across the globe. You’re talking around 2 Billion in sponsorships alone.

Reed Sheppard's Legacy at Kentucky -- I hate to disagree..

Coming back for the name in the front of the chest would throw him into legendary status if he performed well. However, I’d rather have 20 million dollars to take care of a few generations than be a college basketball legend. So you can’t blame him.

    Reed declares

I don’t know if he did. I still believe Cal didn’t want to leave and made a ploy for NIL money. It failed because Mitch was just looking for a reason to get rid of him without the massive buyout and told him to kick rocks. He knew he couldn’t come back. Either way, I’m glad that era is over and...

Seems like Nobody Cares about Championships

This all started when the NBA started making kids wait a year to declare for the draft and the development of the G-League.

    Reed declares

NBA drafts on talent & potential, not team success. It actually shows how bad Cal wasted their talent while they were here. You don’t have Dilly, Reed, and All American Antonio and not win a single postseason game. Thats a travesty and maybe Cal’s worst coaching job ever.

    Trent Noah?

Thad Matta recruited the heck out of him for Butler so he must have loved USC. Maybe we’ll get him next year in the portal.

Why doesn't the Hurley logic extend to Sheppard?

I thought by the title you meant Hurley’s outlook that you should stay in college until you’re ready to be a solid rotation player. Reed can get picked in the lottery most likely but that doesn’t mean he’ll be a rotation player starting out. Would love to see him work on the areas that need...

    Cal and Perry

Call BS if you want. It may be. This is just what I was told to me by a someone I trust close to the recruitment and Perry’s team. Spoke to them in March about the recruiting process. Said Cal got pressure to start giving Kentucky kids looks, especially if highly ranked. Offered Perry in 2022...

    Cal and Perry

Cal gave an obligatory scholarship to appease boosters. Perry was headed to Purdue. Once he accepted the offer, they didn’t give Perry the time of day. Glad he had some foresight and he’s here. He’ll be a good fit for Pope’s style.

    Trent Noah

I cover the 13th region. South Carolina media has done a good job promoting and following his senior season. They’ve been heavily involved with him after his signing, fearing he could blow up and get poached. I’d say best case scenario is Paris gets hired away next year and he enters the...

    Trent Noah

He did. His teammates were so good you couldn’t double him and when you tried on the 5 out he made great reads. I was impressed with his motor and stamina more than anything else.
