He spoke briefly on the three schools getting officials.

Kentucky: “Just how their style of play is, Kentucky has a great style of play.”

He added: “My dad talks to Kentucky every day. People think Kentucky fell off, I don’t know why. I guess it’s just not out there in the public, but a phonecall’s not out there in the public. My dad and Kenny Payne have a great relationship. Cal [John Calipari] actually called me a couple times the other day, so Kentucky is still on a high note.”

Ohio State: “Definitely what they did with D’Angelo Russell. They kept his promise, made him a high priority.”

UNLV: “I really think they play an NBA style of play. They run pick-and-rolls, off the ball screens, things like that to get open, so I think that’s a great look.”

As for a timeframe on a decision, it could come any time.

“My decision could come at any moment. I don’t have a set time, late, early, my decision could come at any moment.”

Would Cal have told K. Simmons to wait on a commit since UK has Fox, Alkins, and Monk ahead of him? Maybe this turned off M. Fultz as he did not believe he was Coach Cal's top guard option. Just rumors, but something to discuss on a slow Sunday.

Cal wants to sign 3 guards IMO . A sg , a pg and someone who can play both . Monk and Fox are 2 of the guys but it will be interesting to see who the 3rd is . I am hoping it is Alkins.

We see that a lot on here but why? I am not saying I'm opposed to it. But with at least Mulder and Mathews back, and a senior Hawkins for spot time, it really isn't necessary.

I think Cal has cooled on Simmons. Fox is the guy Cal wants.

Are you basing this on a pattern of how Calipari recruitments go? Or are you basing this on projected guru rankings (which show Fox rising and Simmons slightly falling)? Put another way, is Simmons really falling because Calipari has other priorities (Kobi's quote makes it sound as if he is still a Calipari priority) or because you want it to be true? Could Calipari be slow playing Fox in an attempt to force Simmons' commitment?

You can only hope.

But even if he is (which I think is unlikely), it probably won't help you much. I think Fox is too smart to get Selbyed, or Seldened, or Alexandered. Why would he take that kind of gamble with his career, especially when the team isn't likely to get out of the 1st weekend of the tournament anyway?

Ha. I put Fox to Kansas at slim and none. So there is that. I would think Calipari would take both, but I think Kentucky fans prefer that he didn't as that would likely mean no Monk or Alkins?

this post screams desperation.

Checks always clear.

And very low academic requirements apparently...

I'm wondering myself now with Fox out there and UK leading for him, would we take a commitment from this kid. I guess Cal gets paid well to make these type of decisions.

The talk among many recruiting analyst/evaluators out in Vegas a few weeks ago was that Calipari was cooling on Simmons and hot after Fox. Eric Bossi was one of them I believe.

Fox is the real deal and I too think Cal is after him hard; however, Simmons has a TON of upside in my opinion. I wouldn't count anything out at this point.

We've seen Cal take commitments from players with no regard for other people in class. I can't see Cal turning on Simmons if he wanted to jump.

Me? I wouldn't.

There is no doubt that Simmons has great upside, the thing is can he up it enough in only one year?

Fox is ready now.

If fox wants in, I'm in. But I wouldn't just wait around if I were him.

Mulder, Matthews, and Hawkins will be back. Ulis might be back. Calipari might want to sign 3 guards, but he might not find 3 more premium guards willing to split available playing time. Fox and Monk are obviously his priorities. That's why Fultz picked UW. I doubt Alkins and Simmons are out of the picture yet, but I would be really surprised if either of them is willing to join all the returning Kentucky guards plus Fox and Monk. If Fox goes somewhere else, or leans somewhere else, that is the only situation I can see opening Kentucky back up for Simmons. But if Simmons really wants to go to Kentucky, he should commit right away and force Calipari's hand. If he waits past September, I doubt he will play for us.

I don't think we (KU) are really "in" on any top guards right now. We need to get some bigs. A next year of Bragg, Lucas, and that new fella scares the beck out of me.

Simmons good prospect no doubt, but is he willing to be coached. Quincy Miller remember that name! We all know now how that turned out.

oh, I'm sure there's a blue chip out there somewhere waiting to be the next Selby.[laughing]

I believe Coach Cal wants 3 guards in 2016 but that will depend on if Ulis goes in the 2016 Draft. If Ullis, Briscoe, and Murray all leave then we probably get Fox, Monk, and either Alkins or Simmons for the 3 guards in 2016. If Ulis stays another year then it would be Ulis, Fox, and Monk with Mulder and Mathews at the 3 like this year. I believe we will be seeing in next 2 years a 3 guard lineup with Ulis, Briscoe, and Murray this year and then in 2016 it would be Ulis if he stays with Fox and Monk. Similar to the Duke Lineup last year with Tyus Jones, Cook, and 6'5 Winslow at the 3, and Jefferson at pf and Okafor at cener for Duke's lineup last year and that worked great for Duke winning it all.

I see no way Simmons comes with Fox here. IMO he takes the DeAngelo Russell route to OSU, if Fox commits to us.

Not sure how we ever say any of our players are coming back??? Any of them could be gone in any given year...liggins lamb, teague, booker, dakari, nome of those we thought would go.

I was shocked Lee didn't declare...

That's probably true. But Simmons is 6'5". Maybe he could sell him on playing the wing spot instead of point guard. The question to me isn't Simmons or Fox, it's Simmons or Alkins. I think Fox and Monk are the coveted players at 1, 2. But a big guard could play the 3 like this year. If Simmons wants to commit on his visit, what do you say? "Let's wait" could turn him off completely.
