Zagoria: Bam Bam Got 15 and 10, Tripled Teamed, Cal Watching

dude compared him to a player you don't hear many comparisons to.....SHAWN KEMP! My favorite NBA player as a kid. Him and the sonics. Payton, Shrempf, gill, perkins

"He's 6-9, Bam's up to 260 now, eight percent body fat"

Oh.....:eek::eek::eek:

Actually 6'10, 258, and 8% body fat, if we're cherry picking here.
It's awesome to see the way he can put the ball on the floor in some of those highlight videos, especially with THAT kind of size.

I've seen the guy enough to know he isn't 6 ' 10''. Matter of fact I bet he is somewhere around 6' 7'' 3/4 in socks 6' 9'' shoes. He doesn't strike me as super long. Longer than Randle though. Same height I'm thinking.

I look for Cal to extend Ban's game outside of the lane when he gets here. Being 6'8", Bam won't be able to do everything under the basket.
What could have been with Shawn Kemp takes me back to those days when he had a chance to play with Chapman, Mills, Ellis and Manual.
I am sure I have left a couple of guys out of a very strong roster.

Sutton would have had a very formidable lineup.

Not going to say I didn't want Giles, I did. But I wanted Bam just as much and after Giles second ACL injury, I am glad we got Bam over Giles.

I think Bam is going to end up being the better player in the long run due to Giles' injury issues.

It's hard to come back 100% from an ACL tear. It's even harder to come back from a second ACL tear. Also, it looks like he is prone to them since he has had two already.

I don't want to sound heartless (I really do wish the kid the best and a speedy recovery), but it seems like Giles is damaged goods. I hope he comes back strong and gets drafted, but I would be surprised if he becomes the dominant player he once looked to be.

Bam to me has more upside now due to the Giles injury. I may be totally off base on this one, but I feel that way.

That was a dream lineup that almost happened.

G Chapman(6'5)
G Mills(6'6)
G Manual(6'6)
F Kemp(6'11)
F Ellis(6'11)

Plus Miller, Hanson, Pelphrey, Woods, Sutton, Feldhaus and Farmer.

A beast of a shooting team. Only weak spot would have been PG with Sutton and Woods (in his first season). Sutton would have probably given the ball to Chapman as a Junior to run the show. Either that or Sutton runs the show and one of those top five studs is on the bench.

So talented, would have been fun to watch, but I wonder how Sutton would have blended them together.

Giles 2 ACL tears (last one partial) were in different knees

Giles will be fine and will be a great player. Still really glad we got Bam and think he may actually fit in better with the 4 we've got coming in than Giles would have - we've got all the scoring we could want from our incoming backcourt, finesse game from SKJ and length and wiry athleticism from Gabriel. Needed that rim-rattling enforcer.

Probably a bigger miss was Bridges - can you imagine Bridges added to this group? But then getting Gabriel might have been difficult with Bridges on board, and I love Wenyen. Wouldn't trade him for anyone.

Question for any medical people around here (I have a number of doctors in the family but I just had this question seeing this post above). I realize the two ACLs were in both knees....not two in the same knee. But, can your body makeup, build, etc. make you 'prone' to ACLs? Have no idea and I don't think I've ever heard it discussed or written anywhere.

Randle.

I shall refer to him as Edrice. We have a Wenyen and an Edrice coming next year. We've never had that before. I'm so excited!!!

Bam will probably be 6'10 by the time he gets here next year. He's 6'9 now and is he even 18 yet? A lot of kids grow an inch or 2 from the time they're a senior in HS to the time they get to college. Poy was just like 6'7 as a senior. He's listed now at 6'8 but he may be closer to 6'9.

^^^ not true entirely. Poy, maybe. A lot of kids - no. A lot of kids do not grow like that senior year in high school. Not according to my doctor friend.

Not entirely wrong either. My four sons followed after me when all of us grew an inch or better in our freshmen year of college. I guess we were late bloomers.

Matt Jones said the other day the only way bam is 6'8 is if he's barefoot standing in a 2 inch pothole.

Also someone else on the board claimed to have seen him next to Poythress on his visit and he was a few inches taller than Poythress. Who is listed at 6'9.

Also his highlight videos remind of of Al Horford. Not high school Al Horford but sophomore/junior at Florida Al Horford.

Horford has expanded his game quite a bit since entering the league however.

Bam is a throw-back player. He'll earn a lot of money being a junk yard dog on the glass.

BTW, 6'9" in shoes is all that matters. Kids don't play barefoot. I never understood the point that they're smaller without shoes. Isn't everyone?

Hell, Justise Winslow is only 6'4.5 without shoes. I'll take a 6'9 or 6'10 PF, regardless, especially at 258# with uber athleticism.

What Like about Bam is he isnt just a rebounder. He has overall game and seems he can create his own shot. His abilities seem to be limitless and wouldnt suprise me to see him move into top 5 in rankings after this season. Kid is a true "BEAST"

I think BAM is gonna be what we have wanted poythress to be
I think Poythress is being what we wanted Poythress to be....but I know what you are saying.

Kid had injuries and was content to be a role player behind some major NBA talent on his teams, but Alex has a 4.0 GPA and will always be a favorite of mine.

I look for him to have a dominate senior season.
