Zach Calzada QB visiting today

Kid been around started his career at Texas A&M then went to Auburn and finally the last 2 years in FCS at Incarnate Ward.
From GA, 6'4" 200, completed 68% of his passes for 3700 yds, 35 TDs, 9 INTs. Decent enough runner. Mendoza's still my guy but this player would be more than adequate. Impressive who UK's been able to bring in for QB visits.

There’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. I honestly had no idea he was still playing and had remaining eligibility at this point. He was kind of serviceable at A&M 3 years ago, but outside of that memorable performance against Alabama, wasn’t amazing either, completing 56% of his passes and throwing 9 interceptions. Hard to say how much if any he might have improved when his only playing time since then has been in FCS.

Watched his highlights on Youtube beating Alabama in 2021 and he looked great in that game. Not sure what has happened since but his recent numbers suggest he is accurate with his passes with a high completion percentage.

UH, maybe playing against FBS level competition ??? That would make solid D1 QB's look good, drop down a level, play against smaller, slower, not as athletic defenses.

Looks good he can move inside pocket - occasionally run - I like that he’s taken a lot of snaps
Him & Cutter would be fine
Games are won upfront anyway we got to get much better on both sides of the ball on the line of scrimmage

$3M for that kid is effin ridiculous. This shit has become the NFL with one year contracts only and no salary cap. Unsustainable

I would consider this a solid pick up for UK, and sets Boley up well for his RS So year.

I want a QB that can scramble 5-6 yards for a first down. Pocket passers that are statues are becoming a dinosaur in college football.

Two Crystal Ball picks for him to UK.

Imo I don't know how to feel about him, but with transfer portal qb's always asking for too much money, maybe he didn't ask for much and wants to play in the SEC again?

Yeah not sure but he’s played a lot since his struggles. And had success. So maybe he’s taken that leap in his development. Gives cutter or stone a year to get ready

Exactly, it buys a year for either Boley or Saunders to seize the starter role. If neither develop how the staff likes, or the staff gets let go after next season, then the program will just head right back to the portal.

Well in 13 years, we have yet to develop ANY HS quarterback so I have serious doubts we will develop Boley or Saunders.

They don’t need to be great runners. They need pocket presence and the ability to scramble when our blocking falls apart.
Blocking what blocking and a qb with pocket presence to throw the ball and look for multiple receivers down field including tight ends will not happen with grind the ball out on the ground boring ass football stoops

Bush Hamdan may be the worst OC we’ve had and that’s saying something. I don’t have any faith on that side of the ball.
You can't fairly assess Hamdan or any other oc with control freak stoops at the helm. Stoops said it himself he worries if we throw the ball that this will keep his defense on the field too long . Grind it out hold on to the lead and let the clock run out . THANKS MITCH
