B- and that is the lowest score I give when we win. We are terrible inside 5 feet except for WCS, Jumping exercises might help? Flat footed and weak.
very odd game they would play amazing for 3 minutes they like crap for 3 and repeat it seemed . So half the game i would of given them a B+ and the other half D so i guess for the game solid C . WE played much better then we did at Texas A& M and not as good as we did against Ole miss . Vandy played great . Dakari was battling and played well and its not his fault he was hacked everytime he touched it and the ball would get knocked out ect. Towns was a beast of D but nowhere on O . Aaron was invisible in the first and dominate in the 2nd . Andrew was good all game . AS was Ulis . Lee as well.
With how we are capable of playing, I think that we played at about a D for this game. Other then blocks, our defense was rather poor. We gave up 40+% shooting with a ton of wide open shots that Vandy started hitting in the second half. We had 10 different players turn the ball over in the game and some players didn't do a very good job of trying to get open. At times we played to much one on one and the big men did a very poor job finishing around the basket. We bring our A game and we beat Vandy by 30.

We have everything a team needs and then some but a couple of guys like Liggins, Cousins or Magloire would be nice. A little attitude to deflate guys like Jones and LeChance.
Frustrating night, the first team absent the first half. Allowed them to keep some confidence. Should be able to foul a guy like Jones out if you go at him consistently. Would like to see Ulis on LeChance the whole game. Letting the guy stand out there wide open ridiculous.
Just out of sink the whole night. Wasn't into it much. Our bigs need some nasty instilled. Playing that soft against a lot of teams will get us beat.
On the positive side games like this will help keep us somewhat humble. But, that's 3 out of 5 humbling games now. As long as we can improve from it. Consistency starting to be a little bit of an issue.
Thought the second five had us finally starting to roll at one point in the first half and Cal subbed them out. Wasn't really the same the rest of the game. But hey, would take this situation every year. Try and remember how spoiled we are.

F for coaching. Cal is not in Stalling's class at Xs and Os and some others as well. Of course with our talent he doesn't have to be.
Vandy played man to man all night, completely took Booker out of the game when he was in, we continued to run our same old sets they were obviously prepared for resulting in steals and deflections and we never adjusted. Hartung reported that the UK halftime was all about effort with not a word on strategy. So be it. It is what it is. We probably all agree that with great effort we probably won't lose many if any. It would be nice though if Cal would decide to not just roll the ball out on the floor and scream at them to give effort. I know he can coach better because he has.

C-. Too many defensive lapses. OT. Could someone tell WCS that to block a shot on someone driving he doesn't have to swat at the ball like there is a fly in front of his face. He does this ALL THE TIME. He's a great defender but he could be even better by putting his arm and hand between the guys shooting hand and rim and just holding that position. Especially when the driver goes underneath for a reverse. Drives me nuts. It's like "Stein for the block,,,,,,,, SWING and a MISS"

As for those of you giving us a 'D' - I was at the game and our guys were defending and going to the floor for loose balls. We played pretty good D. Vandy was able to punish EVERY single lapse on defense which usually happened at the END of the shot clock. They got a little lucky a few times and the refs really helped them out in the second half.
I give us an F at the foul line, a B on defense, a B on effort, and a D inside on offense for an overall C.
Really if we just made our foul shots that game is an easy win.
The 1 factor that kept us from dominating was Jones defending the rim pretty well. The easy shots inside not plentiful because of him. Jones done too good having to play against all our bigs. Maybe we will be more motivated the next game against them because Jones pretty much controlled three of our guys. Hopefully Cauley, Townes and Johnson will have a little chip on their shoulder.
I won't grade the team but I will grade myself. I give myself a D. I was disappointed in how we played.
This team struggles with contact. At Bama, the refs called a tight game and a hack was a foul. Last night, the refs went back to allowing contact on the inside and we didn't battle thru it. I miss Randle this year because that guy would score in spite of being hacked.

C- offense was awful, free throws terrible, lack of concentration and turnovers. We won so no lower grade. Need to get Booker more shots in half court. A shooter like that needs to get shots! Screens, inside to outside passes, skip passes, something! Go Cats 18-0
I wish I had saved all of these grade the performance posts. From memory people generally give a player or two and A and the team a B-, some games drop to Cs and Ds. I don't understand how an 18-0 team is B-. I don't know who is playing "A" basketball on your grade scale.
