I don’t see Pope doing that. Do you? Fit seems to matter to Pope more than some of the fans right now and I can’t see him thinking that would be good for team morale lol. I like Yates but you don’t throw team chemistry in the toilet for the 39th best player in the transfer portal
I know you didn’t ask me but figured it’s a good question. The results so far have been fine imo assuming they do actually get a good PF. The optics have been silly. Flying to dinner, flying to various prospects, tons of zooms with little roster direction, campus visitors not making sense, leaking a commitment before it was official, etc. Been odd and definitely not indicative of a well executed plan.

Despite building our rotation exclusively out of the portal, we didn’t have anywhere near a top portal class. All of the portal guys we have this year are rated higher than the guys we had last year AND you are returning five players from the last year, one of which is a likely preseason AA candidate. You’re combining that with a top 3 national recruiting class.
All that to say, we are in really good shape. I know you are passionate about Kentucky basketball — we all are. But we are going to be fine.
Also there is and will be other guys enter.
If we get Alvaro I will sure feel better. But that is getting a bit concerning. I know he's in Spain but he could still commit if it's such a done deal.
Absolutely, we fans have treated April 7 like the apocalypse and it clearly wasn’t true. A lot still out there and Pope will find the right guys
That’s the one I’m waiting on too. Get him and I’m satisfied with the portal regardless. Anything else is just extra.
Part of that is the Kentucky sports media is 10x as big as the next biggest (not an exaggeration). Due to that, we get every little detail of every potential target or meeting…plane tracking etc.
Other universities are also casting a large net, zoom calls, flying around the nation to meet in person, inviting them to campus etc…1) we just don’t follow other teams as closely unless we are in a recruiting battle w them; 2)Less beat writers and less demand from the fanbase = less minor details being blown up into some indicator we are full steam ahead pursuing someone

I wouldnt categorize Mo D as a shooter. He isn’t terrible but it’s not his strength. Mo D would pair very well with garisson because of his rebounding issues, mo d is very good at rebounding. Alvaro is a perfect fit offensively but him and garisson together would be bad rebounding wise

If we want UK to be elite, we have to stop settling for lower quality players. You're not getting to a final 4 if your players are flawed. Get the best possible guys for each position.
Don't take chances on.bad shooters, high school kids that arent top 10 and dudes with alarmingly bad stats.
The same guys that are fine with what we have now and are making excuses for bad players, are the same ones that will he shredding Pope when the team falls short.

This is beyond dumb, almost all players are flawed in some way, even in the NBA.
