May take some heat here, though I think it may be awhile before tai is a contributor if ever. Have watched the highlights out there and doesn't seem like a typical cal recruit. Trust in cal I do, hope both prove me wrong, and most likely will.

Apparently a big strong player with a touch. Sounds like a smaller older I-zack. Your right trust in Cal.

He won't play much, if at all, this season and may not see much time next season. Bam, SKJ, Humphries, and Willis should dominate the minutes at the 4 and 5 spots next year. I hope he is patient, he might not see significant minutes until he is an upperclassman (a la Willis).

May not be a typical Cal recruit but a very physical 5 that we can use. I think he ends up better than Humphrey.

Agree. Wynyard might not be a typical Cal recruit but he would have been a godsend against Duke. Humphries did OK against the Blue Devils but I think Wynyard is ahead of him physically right now, and if he ends up playing next semester could be a contributor.

We don't know for sure what he will be able to contribute right away. I don't think anyone knows for sure. But I do know this: he's a 6-9 255lb power forward with pretty good hands and a decent touch atound the goal who can move people around and carve out space down low. If he can defend big men and rebound, he could contribute. His strength could be something we need. Our post players are more thin and finesse. He's neither, so that could help.

Bottom line: if he's as good as or better than Humphries, he'll play. Who knows? I'm not gonna sell him short before I see him.

The next bad big man Cal recruits to Kentucky will be the first. I guess I'll give you Vargas, but even he was the eighth man on a title team.

Wynyard may not play a ton, but I do think that Cal will have him available to play this season for depth at the post in case of foul trouble or in case we have to go up against a more physical frontline that's giving Skal fits. We don't need him to be Shaq, we just need him to be able to provide some quality physical minutes when called upon.

As a fan, I view this as a team that can potentially win the national championship, so I would rather have him be available even if he's only able to help us in a game or two but we win the title as a result of that, as opposed to having him redshirt and getting 4 full years for him but be left asking "what if?" after the season. Let's face it, odds are he won't be using that extra year anyway.

Can't imagine why you think you would take heat for expressing your opinion. Most idiots like you say anything they want without any worries. It is obvious that you are much more knowledgeable about recruiting that Coach Calipari so, undoubtedly, we know that Wynyard will never really amount to anything in the UK program.

I hope Wynyard has a good season when he plays this year or next, he'll get better regardless practicing with the team and going against our bigs in practice, so it just makes this years team deeper and next years more experienced, we win either way:popcorn:

You're very very correct! But did you also know that if you exclude transfers (so no Harrow, Dodson, Mays, or Wiltjer) and KY kids (Polson) that EVERY player that has been in the main playing rotation in Cal's time here has either played in the NBA or was drafted (Dakari, Andrew Harrison). That's a truly remarkable streak....and speaks to Cal's coaching ability and talent evaluation ability. It's why our recruiting is the best in the country.
