Not surprising after he posted the tweet wanting an Ole Miss offer.

Can I get the cliff notes version? He tweeted he wanted an Ole Miss offer and our coaches pulled his offer? Or he decommitted hoping or thinking he would get an offer?

I thought he never appeared like a solid commit. Maybe it'll work out for him.

It sounds like another case of a recruiting committing early to set an early bottom floor and then trying to see later if he can improve on it. Again these things are sadly the norm with football commits and we need to hold off on freaking out.

We have plenty to offer, and players of his apparent caliber are not irreplaceable. If he tweeted that he was looking for another offer while committed... buh-bye.

Don't see that he has an OM offer. Net, I'm thinking our coaches told him to kiss off.
That is my thinking as well. If you're an elite prospect like Jarren Williams then we keep recruiting you. If you're a decent prospect like Gaskin, you get told to move on.

He must not be that great since Bama didn't offer two days after he committed.

Not to disrespect this young man, but his "commitment" to UK didn't seem to move the excitement needle one iota after his announcement.

If he really wants to play at Ole Miss, then he's not that smart.

Next!!!!

There is a significant difference (in my mind) between listening to other schools' pitches while committed, even visiting, and going to social media and announcing your specific alternative interests, and eagerness to hear from them. This is simple, unvarnished disrespect.

What were they offering?
Apparently they didn't. But if he were good enough they may offer him Laremy Tunsil benefits or the LaQuan WR (last name escapes me) benefits that showed him on social media in a pic with wads of cash. No coincidence they started landing top 5 classes.

I'd want an OM offer too. You're never too well off to turn down a couple hundred thousand.

Just can't get too excited about potential February 2018 signees based on an April 2017 "commitment". This commitment thing has become not much more than an off season, internet service driven news factory. You never really know how interested is either party until much closer to signing date. JMO

Peace

Wildcard is right, all this committing and decommitting is because of people like us sitting on the edge of our chairs waiting on this kids to announce their intentions.

As far as wanting an OM offer, I can't imagine why. They have a chance to be very good this year, could be the 2nd most talented team in the West, this year, will be decent next year, but after that the effects of the sanctions and bowl bans will kick in. Their soph, jr\ and sr classes are the best they could buy.

Guess he's like *North Carolina's freshmen basketball class, they all like probation, well those two schools can give it to you.

Oh no, where will we ever find another 3* WR?!?!?!? Especially with offers from Bowling Green, NC State, WVU, Illinois, and FAU???

Not to bash the kid, but if you cant stay commited to a place for a full month, you were never ready to commit. And if the Ole Miss tweet is true, that just shows a lot of immaturity. Take a chance on an immature 4 or 5 star? Yeah probably. Take a chance on an immature 3 star with an unimpressive offer sheet? Ill pass.

Never understood why we take these guys. They should be a fall back option after ABCD has committed elsewhere. Isnt he a low 3 star at that?

I liked your post, but now watch him blow up, our coaches know talent.

Besides, how can he get an offer from Bama if he hasn't been offered by us, lol.

I agree, he could end up being a star but odds say otherwise. WR's arent hard to come by. Especially low end 3 stars. We arent starving for them in the first place.

Yes ive read that many times on here. Hopefully all this talent translates to huge production and nfl draft picks. We had no picks this year in the draft. That must mean that the nfl doesnt recognize all the talent we had available for the draft this year.

Of course im being sarcastic but the odds are much higher for this kid to be a bust than a big time player. We just had a wr leave the team whom also was said what a talent he was and Similarly ranked.

Gaskin, who has no visits scheduled, says coach Charlie Strong and USF are going all in and pushing the hardest for his services.

"Our relationship is very high," Gaskin said. "They will let me play baseball and football, so that's a big help."

I'm fine with it personally. I'm not sure if he has the attitude that we are looking for, but that's just me.

He is a legitimate SEC prospect, with size and athleticism to play for us and be productive. He is a stronger athlete than our 2 other current wide receiver commits. It didn't move the excitement needle because nobody here knows much about him, and because the class in general is shaping up well. Given the level at which Stoops has been recruiting for the last several years, I don't think we should worry about this decommit. It's only May, and Stoops has other capable receiver prospects on his recruiting board. These early commits and decommits are becoming more common, but the list that matters is the list that signs with us next winter.

Is that actually accurate though? Those classes were highly ranked but the guys that made those classes special didn't rs and are going pro after 3 years.

I admit I haven't studied them I'm just going off long distance observation. Lot of west teams are talking like they are 4th or 5th this year with a huge drop coming next year.... unless patterson is the real deal.
