Wow down goes Uconn

I hadn't seen that. Just looked it up. People are jumping him because he said women don't want to coach and didn't toe the "discrimination" line? Unreal.

Did he really say that? Damn. Almost wish he had won this game so he could get his ass kicked by Dawn Staley.

Even Geno's daughter hammered him on Twitter. She tried to explain that he didn't really mean what he said. But realized as she went on that it wasn't working.

Does South Carolina even have a basketball board? Football meet that round orb that bounces.

That was such a flop by uconn. I'm beginning to think the refs are out to screw SEC teams, anyway they can.

So what we learned tonight, is that a ref can review something they never called, 20 seconds later as the clock ran time, and make up a flagrant foul (when a personal foul was never called to begin with.. I thought replay was to get a call that was made right. Not to review to see if you should have called a foul on someone later in the game. Hey, maybe they'll do that for you guys and review the first half calls they missed against UNCheat. Now that the Uconn refs have set that precedent. That was unbelievable.

I haven't seen a replay yet, but it sure sounds suspicious. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Really making up stuff on the fly.

Well actually they can always go back and review these types of plays. Even pretty well after the fact. They can't call a common foul but can assess a flagrant 1 or 2. Now in this case it was complete BS. The girl was clearly making a play for the tipped ball. Doris Burke was really getting on my nerves. And like some other poster said, the commentators shouldn't be allowed to comment on it while in review. It could definitely affect the refs call.

I was watching something else and just happened to flip over to ESPN and saw that this game was close,so I caught the last quarter and the overtime and glad I did but I still thought in my mind that the officials would not let UConn lose and they tried. I am very happy for the ladies of Miss St.

That rule totally needs to be changed. MSU strategy when they thought the had the ball with a 2 point lead is totally different than what it would have been if they were down by 2. They were running clock on every possession. I don't think the officials should be able t go back and assess a flagrant foul when they didnt even care a common foul in the first place. There were 52 seconds on the clock when the "foul" occurred but only 26 left when the foul was assessed.

Was pretty frustrating to watch. MSU absolutely clubbed UCon in the first quarter and led by 16 at one point. UCon went to a zone and then MSU threw up a bunch of bad shots and let UCon back in the game. MSU's best player got in foul trouble. MSU led at halftime by 8 but ICon made another run and MSU only scored 10 points in the third quarter. After UCon tied it up it was neck and neck the rest of the game. Not a lot of beautiful basketball.

Just saw the replay, and no way was that a Flagrant foul. Her arm was going up for defense, and it happened to make contact with that girl's throat, but it was clearly not intentional. If UConn had won because of that, it would be Higgins-esque.

Refs tried to give it to UCONN. MSU lady was going for the ball. Doris and Lawson wrong.

Lawson is better than that. Influenced by the reaction of the UConn player, but there was clearly no intent and was making a valid basketball play. Horrendous.

I'm pretty sure the announcers said the refs told them that by rule if contact occurs above the shoulders then it has to be a flagrant foul. That's news to me because I always thought there had to be intent or excessive contact for it to be a flagrant foul which this play certainly wasn't. And this was one of many horrible calls I saw in the game. Further proof that refs are absolutely horrible in all of college basketball.

When did the rule change? Didn't Tyler Ulis have blood dripping down the side of his face... had to get stitches... no doubt on contact.

I don't remember them going to replay to assess a foul?

There's a difference in being a horrible ref and one that cheats... The ref that called the UK game, has for many years been a thorn in the side of UK... Especially, in the tourney... It's funny that they picked that one ref to do UK's game...

Higgins must have been reffing that game. Tried to give it to Uconn on that flagrant.

Great womens game. History making. Congrats SEC. We will have an SEC national champion in womens basketball this year.

USC or Miss State

Heck, maybe USC can win both

That would be great for the SEC.

So, I guess UConnn's 2,893 game winning streak is over. Haven't they won, like, the last 47 national titles in a row or something?

About to be a robbery on a flop.

Greatest women's game I have ever watched.
Reminded me of something Duke would have done to try and steal the game, and then the announcers jumped on the bandwagon. UNC don't have to flop they will call them for them standing up, could you imagine the referees stopping the game after that had happened and another play down the floor had been made and go back an review it(Wisconsin shot after clock had expired) un believable what they can and can't do.

I didn't see your post sorry.... but agree totally.

The refs did make it up to Miss State after the flagrant which allowed UConn to tie it and get the ball. Chong, for some insane reason, decided to drive with 12 seconds and Miss State player either draws a block or a charge and then throws it up and it goes out of bounds. The refs called no foul and then gave the ball back to Miss St.

Then this happened.

Best thing that could have happened for the interest of the sport. Still, why are you even driving with that much time on the clock and when the shot clock is off? Stupid on her part but Miss State deserved it and led most of the game.

That happened to UK twice this season.

What a flop. And Doris Burke was going nuts. I kept saying flop.

UCONN men are not out flopped by Duke.

Quote of the day:

One-hundred eleven and over. The nation's longest winning streak now belongs to South Carolina at 10 consecutive victories.

In the UCF NIT game the other day their 8 foot center turned and had his elbow hit a player in the face and they decided not to call it a flagrant. It was the right decision , because his height was what caused his elbow to be that high on the guy. I guess that means that it's still up to the official on what is intent.

State win is great for the women's game. You would think that UConn wouldnt get a call considering their dominance (and you can't fault the program) has ruined the game. I read somewhere that Miss. St. had a big that UConn really didn't have an answer for and she went to the bench on an illegal screen with two fouls 3 minutes into the game. No matter what is said Referee's can and do determine outcomes.

Well actually they can always go back and review these types of plays.
Review has to be at the next whistle or it can't be reviewed.
My beef is that in the last 2 minutes, Officials should stop action immediately because of the ripple effect it has on coaching strategy.

The flagrant call was right.

Still stunned that the UCONN player drove in when she could've waited and took the last shot.

CAL would've been the talk of the day if that had happen.

I also want to say stuff in slow mo exaggerated things.

Oh, and I'll say that I think the people wanting a flagrant on Trey Lyles in that Wisconsin game were ridiculous and judged it off of slow mo. People wanting to call flagrants on players who weren't even looking at the person they "hit" smh.

Geno will just win the next 4-5 titles as a response to this shame. The players on this year's UCONN team will be hung from meat hooks in CT though. RIP ladies.
