Would love KU to be #1 when UK comes calling

What would the record be then? 5-40?

God they are pathetic. How does a "blue blood" get owned like that. I'm embarrassed for them.

Lol. How embarrassing.

Self must be maneuvering Diallo to come back next year. Kid only saw mop up minutes last night in a blowout of UC-Irvine.

I agree that we'll lose, but you're full of shit.

I'll alter that to say I'm less worried about WVU. But I doubt you'll find many folks saying Kentucky > OU right now. I think OU is going to win our league this year, personally.

Have not got to see OU play this year. How do they look?

FOr real, Hunterfreakingmickmickleson starts, self is the most reluctant OAD coach in the game right now.

Diallo is playing slightly better than Skal and wasn't as highly regarded coming out of high school (i.e., wasn't the projected #1 draft pick). Like I've said, this was a weak class and it is showing this year.

ETA: Diallo also missed the first five games of the year.

I expect KU to win handily at AFH. Revenge game, UK still looking for a team identity, young team playing in a hostile environment, KU more experienced and will be amped.

Just hoping these young Cats play smart and grow from the game with no injuries.

Ferocious offense. Buddy Hield is an offensive machine, very similar to Dwayne Wade when I remember us playing him years ago. With talent being so low across the sport this year, scorers like Hield are basically extinct. (They also have two other guards who can handle the ball and defend and a 6-8 post guy Spangler who is a double-double lock each night).

OU will lose to UNC in the title game IMO.

Only saw them against Hawaii, who gave them all they want, but Hawaii was actually pretty good. I look for them to be the typical B12 team. Look great in the pre-season and then lay down to KU in the conference.

I'll take that bet every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

So does anyone else gets the feeling that KU is going to weasel its way out of having to play at Rupp next year?

Also , I think the way Self is playing Diallo........ that he's basically giving up on the one and done approach since its not worked at all for him. Might as well, after last year and Diallo so far, he's crushing his chances at competing with Cal and K for the big time one and dones.

More or less. I do think any team, even those senior-laden teams, can always improve to some extent. But I do agree, Kentucky is so far off the mark, that they could be drastically different for the Kansas game, where as with Kansas, I just don't think they have nearly as much left to go to hit their potential.

Have you watched Diallo play? He fouls constantly and has a LONG way to go.

Maybe it doesn't mean that much.

It doesn't. At all. You're talking about a first half where you play poorly and then turn around and win the game in the second half. If you're a fan of college basketball you've seen this happen only about a million times.

And also, seeing as well be underdogs and on the road, I'm really not as concerned about the outcome of such a big match up as I used to be. Am I the only one?

I mean, Kansas SHOULD win this game. How many times can you say that about an opponent since Cal has been here? Five times? Factoring in out talent, maybe less? They haven't beaten Cal yet, they haven't beaten Kentucky in almost a decade. We absolutely destroyed them last year. They helped us to our 8th title. We already beat Duke and UofL in the same year.. how many times can you say that?

Winning as an underdog, at Kansas would just be icing on the cake. Would make Kentucky's wins really standout for the rest of the year, helps us towards a #1 seed. But IDK, I don't REALLY need to beat Kansas as bad as other elite programs. Maybe if they win a few on us over the next few years, my mind will change.

Note: When I say "not concerned about winning the game" I mean like an 8 out of 10 as opposed to a team like Kansas usually being a 10 out of 10.

Kansas is overrated. Watch and see.

It's only down hill for them.

He said Helm's Arena....

**No kidding - have some respect!! Your famed Coach who your arena is named after PLAYED UNDER the individual for whom KU's arena is named after!!

Maybe don't bother to have respect for KU as a program as you all always make good and valid pts. that we're at a tier far below UK and I have no argument there....but I just mean respect for the name of the arena, itself.

**To be fair there, it WAS a Hawaii home game (OU's first true road game).

***Self seems to let Freshman play and have an impact at the "1" through the "3" but not the "4" or "5" 's w/ Embiid really being the lone exception and even then he had him on a leash 'til a mid-to late Dec. gm. vs. New Mexico in K.C.

But whether they're OADs or not he's been playing Mason, Wiggins, Oubre, Graham, etc. right away a LOT as Freshmen - I think all 4 got to start (3 of them the majority of their Freshman seasons - all but Graham who was the 1st backcourt player off the bench last year).

Yep, even though they had a home game last year in the SEC/B12 challenge. They and Iowa State being the only two teams to have back to back home games in the series. Shocker.

I don't see the problem. KU opened at Florida, got Florida at home last year. They get Kentucky at home and will in all likelihood go there next year. What's the issue?

Love them all except for the kid. I feel his pain. One day he will get perspective. Or at least be better at controlling his emotions and crying in public at a sporting event.

The UK team you see today is not going to be the UK team in a month from now. The Kansas team you see today will be the Kansas team we face later... How much can UK catch up? Time will tell.
That's he question. We will improve by then for sure. But even so, it ain't easy to win in their house when they have a team like this year.

One of the better Tournament games I remember was a year that UK was a heavy favorite of KU and yet that game went to Overtime....3-seed vs. 6, I think. Aaaah, the 1999 NCAA Tournament, 2nd Round.

Here we go: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/colbask/longterm/1999/men/articles/kentuckykansas15.htm

In 3 seasons of the SEC/B-12 challenge only two teams have played back to back home games. Both B12 teams. Shocking a KU fan has no problem with that..

Hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see a win when we meet KU in AFH. They've had this game marked on their calendar for a long time. I expect their fans to be rabid, and their team out for blood. Unless we see major improvement before then, I think Kansas could win rather handily.

We'll see what happens if we face them in the tourney. We should/will be much improved by then.
