This year's 1-4 seeds are all really good teams. That doesn't happen very often.
I think this is partially caused by NIL. Purdue is beating McNeese like they are from the ACC.
Only 5 double digit seeds make the 2nd round this is tied for the lowest since 2007
This might end up being the most boring tournament by seeds since 2007 which was the "worst" ever for upsets
2025 5 double digit seeds (12-12-11-10-10) reach 2nd round
2023 had 5 as well but they were 16-15-13-11-10 so you had 3 seeded 13 or worst
2017 had 5 (12-11-11-11-10) but in 2017 we had an 11 and 8 seeds reach the Sweet 16 and we had 11 and 7 seeds reach the Elite 8
2015 had 5 but had 14-14-11-11-10
2007 had 2 only 11-11 seeds made 2nd round for double digit seeds
and in 2007 the Elite 8 was (4 #1 seeds, 3 #2 seeds and 1 #3 seed)
We have had at least one #11 seed or worse make the Sweet 16 every year since 2007 when we had none.
We only have 2 more shots #12 Colorado St and #11 Drake this year
