WKYT: Andy Buh Could Be Joining Stoops' Staff

I'm going to assume this is for the special teams spot?

It looks like he's never coached ST or the S position. He's coached LB and been a DC.

They could move and shake the positions around. Not a lock that anyone is leaving or that he has to coach the ST.

Do any of the current staff have ST experience? Who's coaching LBs now? Is it DJ Eliot? I can't remember.

Yes Eliot is DC/LB coach. He may very well be looking to hire Buh as ST coach but he could always hire him as LB coach making Eliot DC only.

We would still need somebody to coach the S position if he coaches ST and LBs.

West Coast guy, seems like Stoops is wanting to expand his recruiting base to Cali if this is his hire. I'm assuming he has no recruiting ties in our normal recruiting areas. Interesting..

Then he could give Ansley the title of Secondary Coach. Between Stoops and Ansley I'm sure the safties would get coached up pretty well.

Andy Buh

(1)2012 as the linebackers coach at Wisconsin
(2)defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for two campaigns at Nevada (2010-11)
(3) three successful seasons at Stanford (2007-09)
2007 as the linebackers coach for a Cardinal team
co-defensive coordinator at Stanford in 2008
(4)Buh spent the 2006 campaign on the staff at Fresno State
(5) (2002-05) as the linebackers coach at San Diego State.
(6)Buh spent his first stint at Cal the two previous seasons (2000-01) as a defensive administrative assistant
(7) three campaigns at his alma mater Nevada, where he was a graduate assistant coach in 1997 and 1998 before being hired as defensive backs/special teams coach in 1999.

Googling his name brings up a lot of articles of him taking the linebackers job at Arkansas just about 3 weeks ago. Anyone know why that didn't happen?

Junior colleges and dare I say, Samoans?

Can confirm via source: former Cal DC Andy Buh is among "a bunch of guys" Mark Stoops has interviewed for staff vacancy, "likes him a lot."

This seems shrewd, especially if he has hit it off with the guy. We should have at least SOME staff connection to CA. It has served as well in the past, and can again, particularly at the JUCO level.

Cali JC's have been pretty good to us in the past, and I'll take some Samoans in a heart beat.

Looks like it from Cal website:

Andy Buh is in his second season on the Cal coaching staff in 2014. Buh
will be reassigned as a position coach after spending the first season
of his current Cal tenure as the defensive coordinator and linebackers
coach in 2013.
