It probably means UK couldn’t work out a NIL deal for Oscar and he is probably gone to the NBA draft as the player of the year. He can’t go up any farther than he is now.

Not necessarily, we need another big man even if Oscar comes back. He constantly had to go against teams with multiple players bigger than him. Not many big men can do what he did against bigger players every game. I agree with you that he can't go any farther up as far as individual awards, but a national championship would be nice.

In before one of the danglers comes in and says "hurr durr....y'all said you wanted 4 yr college players, now we're getting them and you complain."

First, I tend to like the guys we get in the transfer portal more than the one and dones. Not as a hard and fast rule, I mean obviously who didn't love watching Anthony Davis or John Wall, etc. I'm just saying the transfers and grad student guys feel more like college players.

However, the grad guys were 4 year dudes at smaller schools, and they were there for a reason. Getting a transfer like Oscar, and having it pan out like it did, has been the exception, not the rule. These guys in a manner of speaking are like getting JUCO guys in football or baseball. Glue guys you use to fill positions of need. You don't build a roster out of them, any more than you'd build a roster entirely of freshman (unless you're 2022-2023 LSU 🤣 suck it Bayou Bengals.)

We all know what the system is now, and why it is....transfer portal, NIL, OAD, all that crap. Not trying to debate any of that.

Just trying to head off at the pass the dumbass and inevitably incoming comments I alluded to in my first sentence. We all know what those of us who say "we want four years guys" mean when we say it. Yes, those days may be gone forever. They may not. I understand it is what it is. I'm simply saying don't try to toss that disingenuous horseshit at us when you know damn well we're talking about having guys here and playing together and molding together...building cohesion....a chemistry....the intangibles....the communication....all that stuff. That's what it takes to be great. Tired of us hobbling together a roster and just being good to pretty good. We haven't been great since 2015. And this season overall was pretty damn fun until SECT and NCAAT.

Yep there's a big difference between a home-grown roster of juniors and seniors and a Frankenstein roster like what Cal appears to be ready to put together for next season.

Agree with everything you're saying. However, a lot of those saying they wanted home grown four year college players are happy to show Brooks the door (not saying you're saying that). It's a fine line, and truly, it's a case by case basis when it comes to players we want on the roster.

Or it could just indicate we need another option for all the reasons or Calipari wants to squash the “modern offense” hopes of so many fans by playing smash mouth basketball with two big guys in the paint. 😂

It's really not. It's an overall mindset and atmosphere that we want here. Home grown 4 year players mixed in with superb talent. No team or roster is perfect but that's the model we want to see.

I'm not disagreeing with that model, and agree experienced four year players mixed with young, superb talent is the winning formula. I'm more speaking to the fact that Brooks could be one of those four year guys as part of next year's equation, but many of the same folk clamoring for more four year guys are quick to say "See ya!" to Brooks.

I'm also not saying Brooks is the answer either. So maybe he's not the right kind of four year guy we want here? Hence the case by case given a particular player point I was originally making.

Bottom-line……we as fans are always going to be fickle and whiny unless we win at a high level. It doesn’t matter what formula Calipari or another coach chooses. I’m not clamoring for the old days of getting to know players for 4 years, etc. NIL deals have changed a lot of it for me. Play hard, help Kentucky get a championship and do whatever you need to do. You are now a paid commodity.

Kansas won with lots of 4 stars and transfers so did whoever won a couple years ago... maybe teams are being built different now?
This is the way teams are built now outside of Duke.
It’s more important than ever to be a good X’s and O’s Coach.
That’s why Triple C will never make another Final Four.
He’s got to have a massive talent gap on everyone else to have a shot and those days are over.

Brooks has improved very little if any at all over his 3 years

From averaging 4-5pts/game as a freshman to averaging double digits in his last two seasons shows improvement (and he was injured for most of 2020-21). Is he a super star? Far from it. Could it be addition by subtraction if Brooks leaves? Potentially. My point is he's a guy that could be here four years, something many say we need more of, and they're happy to see him go.

2022 but I'm saying people bashing him act like we didn't do anything in 7 years. We were decent that year and in 17 we got screwed by a referee. I guess those years bad coaching too. I was upset with st Peter's loss but I'm more upset with everyday shit storm around here.
Find a new team as you in’s like to tell us in’s

FWIW after he blew it in 2015 I knew we were in trouble.

Why stop with just two big guys? Perhaps it is time to counter small ball with tall ball. Are there any 6’-10” point guards in the portal? 😉

I was well pleased with construction of last year's team. Having 2 or 3 top 10 freshmen, rest experienced players whether previous year or portal is superior to a mostly all freshman team. My problem is Cal's in game coaching and that is why he needs to go.

I can remember when UK got the cream of the crop now we chase after low level D-1 school transfers.
My theory is that it's better to find a "big guy" in the transfer portal in most cases. It gives these players more time to develop and add some weight. With few exceptions, many of the tall/big players coming out of high school are too raw

It probably means UK couldn’t work out a NIL deal for Oscar and he is probably gone to the NBA draft as the player of the year. He can’t go up any farther than he is now.
Or could mean that Lance Ware is gone and we want a more capable backup for Oscar... never know.

The last 2 years have been terrible man. Not sure what you expect folks to be saying. UK is not the top of the food chain lately as Cal likes to proclaim.

I want KB back for his senior year. Go out strong!
