Have to be honest, im a little out of the loop on all of our additions, apart from knowing their names and seeing some tape. Hard to keep up sometimes.

What does everyone think our depth chart will look like, minutes distribution, etc, now that Oweh is back and we have what seems to be a settled roster.

Lowe-Aberdeen-Chandler
Oweh-Johnson-Noah
Williams-Hawthorne-Jelavic
Dioubate-Garrison
Quaintance-Moreno-Porter

Lowe, Oweh, Williams, Dioubate, Quaintance, Aberdeen, Johnson, Garrison will be top 8 for minutes. Chandler, Hawthorne, Moreno, and Jelavic will be fighting for 9th and 10th minutes.

I also wouldn't be surprised if one of Aberdeen, Johnson, or Garrison start.

Lowe, Aberdeen, oweh, dioubate and garrison starters- until JQ gets healthy
Jasper- sixth man
Williams, Chandler and jelavic main bench pieces- with all being able to fill in in case of injury or better play
- Noah, potter, Hawthorne, and Moreno develop pieces

I think our starting lineup will be clear, but the minutes will be super hard to determine:

Lowe (25)/Aberdeen (15)
Aberdeen (10)/Jasper (15)/Chandler (15)
Oweh (25)/Williams (15)
Mo D (22)/AJ (15)/Garrison (3)
JQ (25)/Garrison (15)

The issue we have is that we just have so many bodies.

I truly have ZERO clue how Pope works out the minutes, we have sooo many dudes who deserve to play.

I think it will look something like this:

I think we should ask the Oklahoma Sooners how many minutes they think Oweh should get

🥳 🫣

They are gonna get an Oweh special at Rupp. It will be an ass kicking by UK.

On the OPs thread, I have no idea and it's a good problem for Pope to have. He has to snuff out any egos and chemistry issues from playing time to ensure a successful outcome to the season. He will do so IMO.

Should start the season strong and finish even stronger.
It's such a huge relief to have a team stacked with veterans that don't need their diapers changed every game before eventually crapping down their legs in March.

Match ups and the hot hand matter. We have a ton of depth on paper. Always have to see how that translates to the court before splitting up PT. I’ll defer to the guy that gathered all the talent.

Lowe
Jasper
Oweh
Mo
Garrison

Aberdeen, Chandler, AJ - Probably come off the bench at the same time.

Then once JQ is gtg we will have to re-evaluate. I think the others are playing mainly spot minutes and when we need something specific. Moreno is the one that I think will end up being so good he has to have some minutes at some point. Or he will be the starter next year.

I love the idea Garrison plays some 4

Remember last year Amari and him on the court together against Oklahoma

We had pretty rebounding and defense in that game

I think Lowe, Oweh, Dioubate, and Garrison are starters at the beginning of the season. I think the 5th spot is up for grabs between Williams, Aberdeen, Johnson and Chandler.

Also, I'm very curious to see how JQ gets worked in as he gets fully healthy and when he begins to start who that will knock out of the lineup.

I want to see us press and push the pace so that mostly everyone gets to see the floor. I see us running teams out of the gym. Play hard, take a break, and then get back in there.

Starting Lineup:
PG - Lowe
SG - Oweh
SF - Williams
PF - Garrison
C - JQ

First Off The Bench:
Aberdeen
Jasper
Dioubate
Chandler
Jelavic
Moreno
Noah
Hawthorne
Potter

I tend to think

9 guys are safe, Oweh, JQ, Lowe, Garrison, Dioubate, Aberdeen, Kam, Chandler, Jasper are safe

And final one spot goes to one of Noah/Moreno/Hawthorne/Jelavic

Everyone is going to play early on, except maybe Potter might redshirt and Quaintnace may not be ready yet.

I think in November, against cupcakes, everybody plays.

By SEC play, the rotation will probably be down to the top 10.

By March, I think the rotation could look something like this (estimated minutes- give or take 2-3 minutes):

G Lowe(25)/Aberdeen(15)
G Aberdeen(10)/Johnson(15)/Chandler(15)
G Oweh(25)/Williams(15)
F Dioubate(20)/Jelavic(20)
F Garrison(20)/Quaintance(20)

I don’t see anyone getting 30 minutes a game on this team. Pope has talked about analyzing players and their optimal minutes, so he knows not to leave guys on the floor too long. The top 10 will play somewhere between 15 and 27 minutes or so each game.

Great posts. I rely on a lot of you to give me the skinny on things.

It appears that almost no player should ever get much more than 30mpg. Were gonna need to keep our bench ready in the event of an injury. It would be spectacular if this team could go into march, with a 2nd unit thats getting 15-18 mpg, who can run the other teams bench right out of the building (or their starters even).

I think this is going to be a fun year and I don't think theres gonna be many losses.

Lowe

KAM Williams will end up as a starter, hide and watch

Damn, so many dudes. hope they can stay happy. Lowe, Oweh are the guarantied locks, then Q if healthy. Then 6 guys who could all start for the last two spots.

I also love the probability of getting a bunch of these guys back for another year:

'26-27:

Lowe - Senior
Johnson - Sophomore
Williams - Junior
Mo D - Senior
Garrison - Senior
-------------
Jelavic - Sophomore
Noah - Junior
Hawthorne - Sophomore
Chandler - Junior
Moreno - Sophomore
Potter - Senior

Might only have to bring in two guys total.

Win it in '26, then run it back in '27.

By March:

Lowe - Johnson (only to keep him "fed" - Abderdeen would be the better choice)
Abderdeen - Chandler - Johnson
Oweh - Williams - Noah - Hawthorne
Mo D - Jelly - Hawthorne
Jay Q - Garrison - Moreno - Potter

That's about as deep of a team as we've ever had here.
Through the 12-13th man I have to agree but the 2015 team had 9 guys who spent at least some time in the NBA and 3 more guys who played pro ball overseas. Still baffles me how Cal blew that Wisconsin game.

We had weaknesses all year that we never worked on because we just kept winning with defense, transition, rebounding, and bully ball. Our first-shot half court offense was thoroughly mediocre, we just ended up a top offense because of elite offensive rebounding and transition scoring. Wisconsin dictated tempo and outrebounded us. Even with our great defense, they were able to execute in the half court. To beat Wisconsin we either needed to dictate tempo which Cal always sucked at, or we needed to win the rebounding battle and we lost it. THAT part baffles me, that we got outrebounded by 8, along with us fouling a lot more than them.

One thing I like about this team over the 2015 team is that it actually has at least two guys for every position. 2015 had no SF. Cal played two PFs at the 3 spot (Poythress and Lyles). Cal loved to play guys out of position. That team was great, but to nitpick, the 3 spot was our weakness, IMHO.
