TPTB want Mitch on the rope for this season too. He can’t be allowed to make the next hire after creating this mess with the contract, giving cal 1 more year also puts Mitch’s job on the line if things fail. Since that is what’s likely to happen, this will allow us to hit reset next year with a real AD making the decision.
