Will Willis be on the team?

We all have an opinion, but Willis has had to compete with NBA type talent since he has been here. The old saying "hard work pays dividends", hasn't come for him yet but he still has this season and next.

I hope he comes out and sets the world on fire. Any team can use a 6'9 player with his skill set.

Very true and not all players hit the upswing of life at the same time. I personally know a few that completely checked out of life by 9th grade and ended up earning a college degree and playing 4 years of collegiate sports. That spark (growing up) hits everyone differently. I think Willis could earn minutes here for sure if he catches it soon enough.

The comments about graduating from UK and having a lot of opportunities are pretty solid, but the ones about him being a rock star don't hold as much value. If he went to say Murray St. and started for their team there would still be hot groupies and parties. In fact, he could go to Union College in Barbourville and get "special treatment" because he is on the basketball team.

I played for a low mid major in NC, and believe me I would rather ride the pine and have front row seats for 4 years with a chance to perhaps become a polson or Jorts. We are talking about KENTUCKY here. Plus, you have Cal and UK program. He is set for life if he never picks up a basketball again.

I think some of you should just mind your own damn business and let Derek Willis live his life as he chooses.

I'm not going to say a guy should transfer schools when I don't know him. There's more to life than sports and if Derek genuinely enjoys being a student-athlete at UK, on a personal and academic level, then he most certainly won't, nor should, transfer.

He was a UofL fan in high school. He went to UK for business decision. He wants to play pro ball. He will in Europe or Asia. UK is helping him do that.
