Will Cal Go After Another Big Grad Transfer?

I agree, Cal has been talking about August and Grad transfers, I have the feeling someone might have contacted UK about a possible transfer. I think with both bigs out, get them here as soon as possible but they might be finishing school work to graduate to transfer.
Hope you are correct, however this is Cal, and I don't think he would talk about it if something was in the works. He is the king of misinformation or no information when it comes to the fans.

This roster(beyond the early signing frosh) just fell into place. We lucked out into having as full of a roster as we have.

These are uncharted waters and Cal will work out details of a potential transfer behind the scenes. Best to have the groundwork laid and make the move at the deadline to avoid possibly losing someone late.
Bringing another serviceable big man into the fold could cause discontent if things aren't handled delicately.

Especially if it's Dante.
Don't know why he would want to transfer this late or what UK's pitch would be.
If Dante was receptive, don't know what the staff tells the other two.

Dante or Bradshaw for 1 year, who do you take?

yep good ol luck and Cal loves ****ing with the fans... smh

I think the question is Dante (or any big transfer) or Ugo.

Cal is king of dropping hints and he dropped some before Ugo’s injury. If Cal stays put then he feels good about Ugo’s return.

I promise you he doesn’t want to go into season with just the guys we had in Canada. We were one injury or foul trouble away from starting Burks at the 5.

This team has potential and Cal knows da base is restless. He will not begin year with Mitchell and Burks as only big men.

Season doesn’t begin until Nov. But, Cal will have info on injuries/Legitimate return time and make decision by late Aug.

Yeah if he doesn't think they could be ready by start of season you have to get someone. If Mitchell gets 2 quick fouls he's out 1st half. Burks seemed to foul alot when he played. He wouldn't last whole 1st half.
If he thinks they will be ready then stand pat.

imho this IS the season. we have a chance to be great again. if we are not i fear we may never be, at least for a while. we cannot worry about 'feelings' put the best team you can find on the practice court and tell them the best during the week plays...period.
i think cal knows this season is pivotal

Dante or Bradshaw for 1 year, who do you take?
I take Dante for two reasons:

1. he is a proven commodity at this point and we could use another veteran given the makeup of the team.

We have some very talented Freshmen in Wagner, Edwards, Dillingham, and Sheppard.

We only have two proven veterans in Reeves and Mitchell.

Dante is a proven P5 level player with 4 years of experience. He averaged 13ppg and 8rpg last season. That’s a big presence inside.

2. Bradshaw is coming off surgery.

No guarantees he will be as good as he was before the injury.

No guarantees he will be ready to start the season.

No guarantees he will even play, given the current climate in basketball.

You never know what kids will do, especially with all the outside influences and all.

Players today will do whatever their “handlers” tell them to do most of the time.

If Bradshaw is given the advice to shut it down rather than risk further injury that could deep six his draft stock, then he probably shuts it down. Then UK pays the price.

I am not saying Bradshaw will shut things down, but it is a possibility that has to be considered.

I think Calipari could still pull in a Malcolm Dandridge type to come here even now. That's all we would really need, but I'm pretty confident that Somto Cyril will re-classify. His classes were suppose to end in late July.
Agree, dandridge is a good piece to add this late

I don’t think Cal adds anyone. Nor should he. Bradshaw and Onyenso will both be ready for the season opener.

We have everything we need with spare parts galore.

The CHC can cry and whine now.

They will go into hiding once the big blue is rolling.
Stop it Brad and get on down to Nashville.

Is it true that Baby Shaq can’t graduate until Jan? I think I saw someone say KT said that. I would prefer dude form Oregon if that’s not a pipe dream or Cyril, imagine how much better he would be next year? I know, it’s all about winning now but I always plan for the future as well.

I just can’t see Cal going into a season without a legit post player.

Onyenso and Bradshaw are both coming off surgery. They will both be behind on development.

And Bradshaw isn’t really a 5 man, anyway. Not in the traditional sense. He wants to face up and play out on the perimeter and is small frame-wise. Not sure how well he will play banging inside in the SEC.

And if Cyril isn’t coming in until late December or January, I am not sure he can help us.

Cal would not have mentioned grad transfers in August if he didn’t have a good idea that this could happen.

And he mentioned that before the injury to Onyenso, so the likelihood of a grad transfer is even higher now, I would think.

I could be wrong, and I probably am, but all this points to Dante coming here.

Think about it, Cal hires Chuck Martin from Oregon as an assistant. Rumors start to swirl that Dante might come with him. Then Cal mentions in his presser that he might add a grad transfer big man in August, because there will be some guys who won’t be eligible to transfer until August. Dante has completed four years of college already. He should be pretty close to graduating. Also, Cal recruited Dante in HS.

Like I said, I’m guessing and am probably way off, but adding Dante makes sense. The connection to Martin. The comments by Cal. There’s a lot of smoke out there, almost too much not to have some fire.
I like it, bring on Martin & Dante!

A lot of people said Whitehead hurt his foot for duke no big deal. It kinda threw him off all year. Hope it works out better for our two bigs.

Don't know why Dante is even being considered on this board. He announced on April 17th he's returning to Oregon for his final year (he missed one year with an ACL). He's draft eligible in 24 and he wants to go pro. Why would he even consider going to another school when he will get all the playing time he wants at Oregon? He's very happy at Oregon it's a pipe dream to even bring his name up

Are you guys all this negative and suspicious in your daily life? It has to be exhausting. Can you not enjoy anything without figuring out a way that it won't be fun tomorrow?

He’s been draft eligible for a while. Maybe he wants to improve his stock and thinks maybe UK’s staff can do that? After 3 full years at Oregon, would another year of the same do much good? If he was dead set on the pros, wouldn’t he have just declared after this season, which was by far his best season?

I am just speculating like everyone else, but a guy using his last season of eligibility in college to try to improve his draft stock sounds like a prime candidate for a grad transfer to UK.

But it’s unlikely Dante comes here. That’s the best case scenario, which of course almost never happens.

Dandridge would be a serviceable backup.

But I wouldn’t want to count on him as a starter, though.

Even with Onyenso and Bradshaw out, Calipari wouldn't start Dandridge. He would be Mitchell's backup at the 5 instead of Burks, just like Cyril would be. With both of the big men back, Dandridge could get minutes as the backup 5 with Bradshaw or Mitchell at the 4, essentially being the fourth frontcourt option, primarily backing up Onyenso.

I think he has to now or get a reclass from Cyril.

I don't see Ugonna playing here. His handlers will probably hold him out now to prevent further injury
He might do that, as for Ugonna, if that were to happen, him and his handlers need to move on. Not playing because you are scared to get hurt is no good, when you sign to play at Kentucky,, you are expected to play. Injuries are part of life.

Make Cyril work.

Just make it work. Pull some strings, loosen some screws ya know...

Make It happen
