Wilkerson ???

Woodson got a lot of highly ranked freshmen and transfers and none of them were as good as projected. Maybe it's more the coach than the players? Indiana looked awesome on paper last season. I'm not saying we should overpay for him, but I wouldn't doubt some of those players are much better in a different system.
You’re 100% correct that Mike Woodson is a terrible coach but he isn’t the reason Mgbako sucked.

Mgbako sucked because he’s slow, is a terrible defender, can’t put the ball on the floor and he’s an awful passer.

The bad attitude and lack of effort could have come from being on a bad team but Mgbako returned to IU after his freshman year ended without an NCAA tournament appearance so that’s kinda on him.

why is he in Spain?
Don’t know other than that’s where he’s from . He and Adam Mara have both been back in Spain. Don’t know for how long . I’d LOVE to see a package deal for these two. Haven’t heard anything about that though, just me wishing, lol .

Maybe, but what happened to Rice? He or Carlyle was projected as a 1st round pick by some pre season. Bryson Tucker was a highly ranked recruit and he wasn't good. Reneau wasn't very good. Nobody flourished under Woodson.
If we got Mgbako, I'd prefer it be a backup role like others but I just don't know how much you can judge a guy who played for Woodson.

Dang Wilkerson, Bailey, Devries

Yeah as we saw last year when u start with almost nobody you have a lot of shoes to fill. Plus everyone gets 15 scholarships now if they want to use them. I think much like we were last year, Indiana will be better immediately. New coach new players new system and lots of minutes available to attract talent.

Reneau was very good. He can't defend, but Reneau is one helluva scorer in the post. Why Mike Woodson is an imbecile is easy: He thought he could play both Oumar Ballo and Malik Reneau together and....he couldn't and every fan saw it (both Reneau and Ballo do not move from the lane and neither has any kind of outside game. Reneau and Ke'lel Ware worked well because Ware could put the ball on the floor and is a very good outside shooter.) It took an injury to Reneau before IU actually started playing good basketball, when Ballo was by himself on the floor. Soon, Reneau and Ballo were rarely on the floor together and IU played much better. Reneau will help Miami a lot because he'll finally have a coach who will know how to use him and how to push him.

The other guys are easy to sum up. Myles Rice is an undersized PG who is quick and a good penetrator, but isn't a great passer and isn't a threat from deep as a shooter and isn't a good finisher at the rim because of his size. To be fair, Rice missed time at Washington State due to cancer treatments and I do think he still has an issue with wearing down. Rice could blossom under a real coach and Buzz is good, but I'm not crying he's gone. As for Carlyle, he was easily the most disappointing player on the team. Dude literally does nothing well. Well okay he's a pretty good defender. He's a terrible offensive player and no, I don't think that's changing wherever he ends up next. Bryson Tucker I hated to see go. That kid, if he ever develops an outside shot, could be an NBA player. He is extremely savvy and plays like a 4 year vet. The word around the IU boards is that Tucker told Woodson about halfway through the season that he was leaving IU at the end of the year and was already shopping for a new school. That pissed Woody off and Tucker honest to God never saw the floor again. I don't know if that story is true but Tucker, who played really well in limited edition, never left the bench and IU fans were as confused as everyone else.

Listen if you guys get Mgbako and he looks like a different player, I'll be the first person to say I was wrong about him, but Mgbako has a lot of warts for a 5 star player who long ago was supposed to be NBA bound and I think his biggest warts are his attitude and work ethic.
