Why'd Pope go 100% away from Williams?

I love this team and I think Amari has shown flashes of being great but I didn't think he looked focused last night. The effort on defense was poor, i.e. arms down, not contesting shots, allowing too much penetration to the basket and his offense backing down his defender is a little suspect and dribbles the ball too far away from his body. All that being said, he's a leader on the court. You can tell by the way his teammates respond to him. That can probably be said about two or three others too, but because of that he is always going to have give his best effort and if he's not doing that, he's going to sit.

This is pure speculation on my part so take it for what it’s worth, which isn’t much. But I don’t think he likes running this offense and I don’t think he expected Brandon Garrison to be here when he committed.
Surely he didn’t expect to be the only big man on the team.

I would like to know what offense he would like to run. Surely, he doesn't think he is a good low post player. He receives the ball a lot of times in scoring position and does nothing productive with it.

I thought at the beginning of the game was some of the best ball he’s played all year. Not sure why he sat most of second half. Cause contrary to some others view here, Garrison did not play particularly well today.
If Garrison makes one dribble in the post he will not pass the ball back out. He will jack up the worst shot you have ever saw before he will kick it out to an open shooter.

Neither of them seem capable of passing when they are in the post with their back to the basket. Both really good at passing when facing the basket.

He and Williams certainly seem to call their own number far too much when they get low post touches. I keep thinking/hoping that will get better. Bigs, previously, in Pope's offenses didn't play like this. I'm not sure if it's a change by Pope or just them being a little selfish. Honestly, I thought neither of them were a great fit for what Pope tries to do on offense. Z is the prototype. My hope is, moving forward, that Pope would try to find the Euro guys that fit what he wants to do.

Idk about "really" good, but both are certainly better when facing the basket. It's probably worth noting that Williams and Garrison are #1 and #3 on the team in turnovers per 40 mins. Chandler is #2, and I'm not really sure his minutes warrant being on the list at this point.
