Why So Much Worry About LSU?

Even though we are now a 5.5 favorite for the game tonight I am still reading on KSR, here and national pundits are speaking on how LSU should win the game tonight.

Am I missing something?

They played good against an over-hyped Vandy squad, but other than that:

Marquette
NC State
Charleston
Houston
Wake Forest

REALLY?

Even if Simmons gets his 30-40 the rest of those guys cant hang with our CATS.

GO BLUE!
Because it's at LSU.

If we live and die by outside shooting, how did we win our last game by 22 while shooting 28% from three?

Exactly. The other poster clearly does not watch UK games. We shot great from 3 against OSU and still lost. (Well MURRAY shot GREAT from 3 and we still lost, but the team was 9/19 overall).

LSU is a better team now that Hornsby and Victor are playing. Hornsby is their 2nd leading scorer, Victor the 3rd. Victor is 2nd leading rebounder, and leading steals guy. They are improved with those two. If they can win at Vandy they can certainly beat us at home.

Btw, the line is not 5.5 currently. The line has gone down to -4. And that's with 68% of the bets on KY. That means that the "sharps" (the professional and bigger money bettors) really like LSU.

Before the season started, who among us wouldn't have taken a 2-1 record at this point in the Duke, UL, and LSU games? That's where we'll be even with a loss tonight. A win is just gravy.

I'd be fine with that assuming we had went 2-0 as we should have against UCLA and OSU.

I'd say these are the top reasons. ..

1. UK is very young and this is their first conference road game.
2. UK hasn't played very well away from home.
3. Most of LSU's losses happened while 2 key starters were still out. They're better than they've shown.
4. It's a night game at LSU and ESPN will be in the house, so the place will be sold out and rockin.
5. They have Ben Simmons, who will be the most talented player on the floor.

I think those are the best reasons. But I personally believe UK will be able to overcome these obstacles and win by single digits.

Because we all have seen this show before. Blakeney and Hornsby will hit 50-60% of their threes. Lee and Skal will be in foul trouble and Willis and Humphries will be trying to guard Simmons. LSU wins and then drops the next game to Florida.
I couldn't have phrased it better myself. This is exactly what feels like will happen tonight. Either that, or we beat em by 20.

Cats will have significant match-up problems with LSU. Remember...they just beat Vandy at Vandy. Tough game for us.

GBB!!!

I think in order to win tonight we have to play with an" I'm not taking any s&!t from anybody" attitude. As a team I don't think we have that.

The line is pretty close. It's on the road. UK has played very poorly away from Rupp twice this year (although against Duke they showed that's not necessarily "who" they are). They're playing the No. 1 pick in the draft. It's 9 p.m. in Baton Rouge. Not quite Death Valley, but not easy, either. One or two guys gets in foul trouble and it could be a long night.

I think Kentucky's the favorite but I can see why somebody would think on paper and all factors considered it's going to be a tough game and one of their tougher SEC games. Not like Ohio State had a great record.

I think you are right on the match-up issue, if we play a transition game LSU will do enough crazy stuff to keep us in the game if we can score and hit enough free throws to make them pay for fouls

My concern is LSU is playing with most or all of their pieces now. They're gonna start playing like the team they were projected to be sooner or later.

This is why we are worried about LSU (or any team with a pulse outside of Rupp frankly).

For the record, I still think Kentucky can come back and win this game... Just saying this is not the season to think we are going to roll teams on the road. It's not going to happen consistently anytime soon.

Our Bigs are intimidated and we are only going through the motions on defense. Very poor shot selection by most of our players. Good to see Mulder getting minutes. Skal a non-factor. Not surprised we trail big on the road against a good LSU team playing better than they have been up to now.
