Why no minutes for Wynyard ?

Almost beyond belief how some continue to hang on the "why isn't Wynyard getting any minutes" nonsense. If he was ready to play and could contribute, don't you think, especially given how weak we are at the 4 and 5 spot, he'd be playing?

Not necessarily, several including me thought the same about Willis. He wasn't getting many minutes at all for two and a half years until a couple of weeks ago, now he is starting.

Just how long does it take a 18 - 19 year old to get in shape If he is working on it at all.

It may be nonsense to some, but saying he isn't playing because Cal doesn't
want to play him is a cop-out in my opinion.

He is the best big man from new Zealand and was heavy recruited by many school's. He of course has many videos online showing his basketball talents. If Mr David is seeing pt before wynyard the the proof is in the pudding. ....he is red shirt this season.
I don't believe that not in shape bs either.

On top of every other challenge he's facing lets not forget he's also still adjusting to a different culture, and to college life in the US. That alone could be daunting to most 18 year olds. I think there is a real value in him going ahead and coming to UK. Even if he does nothing this year he'll enter next way ahead of all the other incoming players. If Cal decides to play him at some point, and he can contribute this year it will be a added bonus. That's how I'm looking at it anyway.

It isn't cop out. He doesn't owe you or anyone else an explanation why he isn't playing. And if you don't understand why Willis wasn't playing and now he is, I suggest you brush up on your basketball knowledge.

I listened to his Vandy presser. Basically said when Lee and Poy aren't performing it lasts for 40 minutes. He'll look at playing Tai and Humphries. Of course he may just be trying to fire up Lee and Poy.

Vandy is tall but less athletic than most teams we play. Maybe Humph will get a look.

He is not going to redshirt wynyard. There's no need even if he doesn't play.

If I'm wrong, then what's the point? We don't recruit guys to be here 5 years.

Probably true but it defies logic. Jst because you get a redshirt doesn't mean you have to use the extra year. There are countless reasons to take it, just in case.

It would help if you brushed up on your reading comprehension. I said he was STARTING.
There is a huge difference in saying that " he wasn't playing and Now he is" and STARTING.

Saying that Cal doesn't owe anyone an explanation why Wynyard isn't playing is another version of Coach speak I suppose. you can use it anytime for any reason. jmho

Preacher isn't questioning Cal's decision. He's just asking if anyone has heard this addressed by coach after the game. Considering our problems with the post position, I can see why Preacher is asking.

I'm thinking the opposite. Considering UK's problems in the post, the fact that Wynyard still isn't playing should give everyone the answer as to why.
