Why is Imanuel Quickley

Anytime you can shoot like Quickly there is a place for you somewhere, I think he can play in the NBA in the right situation. He can go by you and he knows how to draw fouls, we see it all the time. One could argue he has been our most valuable player this year. His attitude stands out too, nothing seems to get to him, he just keeps plugging away. I hope he comes back another year, it would be his team if he does. Cal might run that by him, hope he does.

It’s the same reason an awesome player like Chris Lofton never made the NBA. Can’t run point and too short for a sg. It is what it is , he’ll be back.

Maxey does have a very good Vertical, can’t find a measurement but it was 38.5” if I remember right. Kid has high potential athletically. Quickley does not, that’s the difference.
size matters also. maxey can guard the other team’s 3, or big guard no problem.

1- Maxey could be a scoring PG in NBA. IQ would be a 2-guard, and on the smaller size of 2-guards

2- IQ is more athletic

So a not big, not overly athletic, not great shooting 2-guard is a dime-a-dozen.

I don’t understand what Maxey has flashed in terms of showing he has point guard skills. He makes a lot of dumb passes like Hagans. I don’t see why people don’t think Quickley can be a scoring point guard in the NBA? Pretty sure he was billed as a point in high school.

They are both unproven when it comes to running a team. Obviously Maxey is better right now (which is why Cal lets him run the show behind Hagans) but who’s to say Quickley can’t be a Dennis Schroeder type?

No, no he doesn't...only thing maxey is better at is be scores in more ways.
The only reason Maxey scores in more ways is because IQ has a more mature game. He does exactly what he is needed to do. Maxey forces alot of things.
IQ was a 5 star pg for a reason. The kid can get to the rim and score wherever he wants

I am the last guy who should get in on a conversation of who would fit in the NBA. I once made the statement that Larry Bird was a step too slow to play.

iq is in better shape than maxey. but maxey is going to be huge. he still has baby fat. he’s not a small guy.

While I do like Maxey’s NBA potential more than IQ’s (I just think he’s a better athlete and will be a more versatile player in the league), he ain’t guarding a 3 in the NBA.

yeah i was talking about college. i think his girth is what makes cal fine with running 3 guards.

The obvious thing: Quickley is a Sophomore. How good would Maxey look as a sophomore with some of that same polish?

I think Quickley is slightly better today. But his shooting is a big part of that. Maxey is way better at attacking and finishing at the rim. Once he starts knocking down 3's at a consistent pace...watch out.

No doubt. I might not have been following this right but I thought this thread was about why one was projected higher than the other in the NBA (not trying to be a smart as so sorry if it comes across that way)

my initial post about maxey’s frame or how he is going to be huge at some point into a pro career is my opinion why he’s rated higher. he’s going to be hard to stop at the basket if he gets an angle as a pro. he’s shown at some point this year about every type of finish you could have inside laying it up. mix that with a potentially huge upper body and he’s going to be tough. he finishes with contact well already.

Love what IQ brings for us. He is really starting to become one of my all-time favorite UK players. I don’t know if he will leave after this season (personally think he will come back), but he can really improve his draft stock by returning and running point. Can you imagine that backcourt with Clarke, Boston, Askew coming in and Allen returning?

I think I'll take the NBA scouts opinion that do this for a living over some random dudes opinion. IQ isn't on any draft boards and Maxey is a slam dunk top 10 pick.
