Why can't we act like Duke or UNC when we lose?

Unc has a homer board and has banned anyone that doesn't toe a specific line. That's an easy way to keep a board stale with low traffic. You're mis interpreting them.

Duke has lots of fans that aren't from the state, and have no real connection to the team. Really, they're just along for the ride. They really don't care either way.

UK has the die hard, holy f**** when we lose, we could've won better if we win, type of fan.

Give me my boys(you guys)any day of the week. We love our program, and arent afraid to let the emotion ride.

They have civil conversations and the intelligence not to throw the coach under the bus like he's never accomplished anything. We act like the world is ending tomorrow and your best friend is having an affair with your wife. Embarrassing.

Oh, it is ok for the coach to run to the mike at half time to criticize certain players, but it isn't ok for fans to call him out on the obvious inexcusable decisions that he makes. That doesn't work with me. I like Cal as a coach too but more so for his recruiting than for his game time coaching. I have always felt like he didn't develop players the way he should considering the quality of players that he has to develop. Sure, I know that a couple of his players have done extremely well, but when you consider the volume of top players that he has coming thru his program, he should have more than just a couple to talk about.

Fair point. But the irrational that goes with a loss is unintelligent.

I post a lot on my St. Louis Cardinals message boards. We lose our minds of we lose to certain teams.

Try a Pittsburgh Steelers message board. Alabama football boards are the worst. Don't even try the Yankees boards after huge losses and bad playoff runs.

If you want to be the best, and remain the best, you need overly passionate fans. It goes hand in hand. People that think fans don't win or lose games are dead wrong. Find me a wildly successful sports team with mild, mediocre, and small number fan bases.

They don't exist.

Duke would be a first, but they need more titles with more coaches to be on the big dog porch.

You love these losses...

Maybe Duke fans are better losers than we are?

They aren't exactly losing to the god awful teams we are losing to (not listing Kansas).

If the point of this thread is to say Duke fans are losers, I'm in 100% agreement. :D

But seriously, UK fans are very passionate about their basketball. That's just who we are. This is a message board and people vent here. That's part of what it's for. You're venting about people venting too much, but that's ok too.

Who is stopping you from questioning the coaching? Posters have every right to reply to you and disagree with you. If you don't like folks who disagree with your stance you can always put them on ignore.

You obviously misunderstood my post. I don't post on this message board in search for agreements of others. I post my opinion and if by chance someone agrees with it that is their right and if they don't agree with it, I really don't care. So, I have no interest in putting anyone on ignore.

Then why make this statement?

"but it isn't ok for fans to call him out on the obvious inexcusable decisions that he makes. That doesn't work with me."

If you don't care?

I think if you check closely, most of the negative crap comes from "fans" that never show up after a win. That ought to tell you something.

I made the statement because it is my opinion just as all the other posts are opinions of others.

A couple of his players have done well, huh?

I've been a fan for over thirty years, yet i'm still learning about UK basketball. We always think our guys can play, and our coaches; coach better. We need to win every game by at least twenty.[winking]

I remember reading the Duke boards after the 2009 season and their fans wanted Coach K to step aside for a younger coach who could recruit better players.

I wouldn't assume that this board is representative of Kentucky fans or that it even represents even a cross section of fans. Same with the Duke and UNC boards. What you see is more the personality of the mods and board sponsors.

I'm tired of hearing people say Cal should of had more titles...... The word is could. we could of had more titles if things went our way. Should implies entitlement ...and if you feel entitled like the world should just give you things without you earning it.... then I'm sure you can guess where to stick it...

Bingo. Most Duke fans wanted him to resign after the 09 season siting a dip in recruiting and a feeling he had let the game pass him by. It is a fact

We've got a segment of fans who doesn't know their ass from a hole
In the ground. They bitch non stop about their own instead of lookin around. They need to get off of message boards.
