Why can't this team rebound????

I just heard that TAM is the #1 rebounding team in the country … fwiw

Yep. Looks like they are #1.

UF has slid to 4th.

But you know that's the thing. We allowed them to rebound 42% of their misses and we all sat here and thought that was horrendous.

UT.......the 3rd ranked team on defense in the nation. The team that only allows opponents to rebound 28% of their misses on average, let UF rebound...........43% of their misses.

It just makes me think offenses have more control over that stat then defenses and the large part of the issue vs UF wasn't our poor rebounding but their good rebounding.

Teams that shoot a lot of threes do have trouble rebounding the ball, balls either go in or bounce back into the offenses hands. That’s some of the problem but we aren’t going after them very hard either. The team knows what they need to do, we will see if they get the message against Mississippi State.

OR% is often calculated by dividing the total offensive rebounds by a team by the sum of their offensive rebounds and the opponents defensive rebounds.

Team A had 10 offensive rebounds
Team B had 20 defensive rebounds

Offensive rebound % for team A=10/(20+10)

Moses Malone, Robert Parrish, Karl Malone and Wes Unseld couldn’t jump over a phone book. Rodman and Jerry Lucas were relentless. It’s about desire and effort, not jumping ability.
I've read some comments here about getting Noah some minutes from Jackson. Love your comments about desire and effort. I think you'd get that in spades with Noah. I just don't know if he has a feel for the college game yet. But he is a tough kid and we would get hard nose play from him. I'm sure Pope knows what he's doing with Noah but I would like to see what he could do in these games where Jackson vanishes

Zone often hurts rebounding because you don’t have a specific guy to block out.
Correct. I'm convinced that's why Cal never played zone. Much harder to rebound from. This team isn't going to rebound well until they lose the soft identity, and I'm not sure they're capable of that.
