Barnhart doesn't care about UK basketball or football, only the short term revenue.
We sold just as many tickets this year and made more tv money than in 2012 when we won it all.
Years like this are fine to him as long as revenue doesn't drop.
Buying out Cal would have meant a net revenue drop.

He also does not give a crap what any of us think about it; he knows best.
So writing angry letters to the athletic department is a waste of time. He won't read even one and will not even ask or be told about them.
How much money UK fans provide is the only way any of us will ever communicate with Barnhart.

What about letters to his superiors?

The reason Cal is still here is because it was too expensive to get rid of him. It would’ve cost around $60 million when everything was said and done. Buying out Cal, the assistants, other staff members, and then buying out another coach and then giving them a salary plus more assistants would’ve cost them a lot of money. Plus a clear cut candidate wasn’t there right now.

With revenues from TV and apparel it's hard to dent the purse strings.

I think the whole Calipari situation is being handled way above Mitch Barnhart’s pay grade.

Greed and bloated egos ended uk basketball. Never getting back to what we have been.

You’re going to have to buy out another coach and pay them and their staff no matter when Cal leaves. That’s not an additional expense.

If that's true, UK should look to replace MB as its first order of business.

Because the Boosters wouldn’t bail out Barney…… The Crafts aren’t going to throw away there money to get rid of the Coach. Time for CAL and Barney to both be fired next season
The crafts didn’t get to where they are today by making bad business decisions. They aren’t going to just hand the used car salesman their money

Mitch does not care what the fans think Cal is here as long as he wants to be Mitch does not have the guts to fire him they both need to go..

Whose fault is it that it would cost UK $60 million to get rid of him? That would be Barnhart.

Watching some old sportscenter utube clips yesterday from BCG getting fired, who the next coach at KY, and CAL taking the job. Does anyone remember his first deal? Cal signed a 8 year 31.5 million contract about the same money his buyout is to put the insane money in perspective.

Kind of like Mike Brown of the Bengals who once said 8-8 is his perfect season.

What about letters to his superiors?
Dr. Eli Capiluto is John Calipari's biggest fan and strongest supporter.
Mitch can't do anything about Cal. It is obvious now more than ever.

And neither can the fans, unfortunately.

If he only cared about revenue, then the rest of the sports outside basketball and football would be playing in dumps with no focus on them at all. Which Is what you want anyway isn't it?

Do you guys just type whatever vomit falls out of your a$$

It’s financial. A business decision if you will.

ADs are closer to bean counters than regular fans. The bottom line, not wins and losses, drives these decisions.

UKAA were not going to make a knee jerk reaction and potentially cost the university upwards of $60M to buyout the old coach, buyout a new coach and pay the new coach without a clear plan in place for a successor.

We are likely stuck with Cal until he leaves voluntarily or the buyout reaches whatever number is suitable to the administration regardless of what happens on the court.

It’s a hard truth for fans to swallow, but it is what it is. With the TV revenue and other shared revenue, a few thousand fans boycotting will barely make a dent in the money.

I don't think any of that is true. I think he cares deeply about the success of each athletic program. I think all ADs care about their athletes and want them to have success. I think between the money and no clear cut coaching star to replace Cal, he just felt like now wasn't the time to make a move. You can agree with him or disagree with him, but I think it's ignorant to say he doesn't care.
