1) Stoops' teams never pull off big upsets.

2) Stoops' teams always play like dog poop coming off a bye week.

3) Stoops' teams almost always get worse as the season progresses.

These historic trends are playing out tonight. If you expected UK to emerge victorious in this game, then you haven't been paying attention.

They didn’t get worst towards the end of last year, it was the middle or the season, same with 2018 and 2019.

Not surprised we lost!
But am surprised how awful we played.
Yes tn is better then us, but our offense might be the worst in stoops era!

No it's not talent, this is 100% coaching.

None of this is true, we are simply getting beat by a much better team and our irrational fans can’t accept that
I can accept it. Didn't think we would win to start with. But for you fans who are ok with the effort on offense, and the offensive system that's being run, you are fixing to get a big surprise. They will lose games you don't think they would. And your young talent will transfer!
That's what I see coming.

And the TN game outcome is not why I posted that. A number of us have been seeing diaster really close. I think you will see it unfold soon!

Pretty clear to me that UT has superior talent. Plus the no huddle gassed our guys often. The D line needed oxygen toward the end of the 1st Qtr.
i wish it wasn’t this way but we don’t get the same talent as UT, Bama, UGA. We just don’t.
7-5. Minor bowl. It is what it is.

My issue is you don’t understand why they are running that offense which is very similar to what we ran last year. Tonight it was dictated by UT and a ball control offense keeping UT off the field was the only shot we had. We never had any shot going toe to toe with UT. It looks terrible because our offensive line blows. We can’t run the ball, we can’t protect a QB and when you can’t do that a play action pro style offense doesn’t work. So yeah it looks rough and they are having to run plays we don’t like and we are struggling. While the new coaches have struggled and have some challenges, it’s not because our OC sucks it’s because we aren’t near as good as our fanbase thinks we are and that affects how you call a game. This includes our QB. I love Levis but all this hype he’s getting is premature and he has never been in the class of stroud or young. We need a dose of reality and tonight we got one. A much better team all around, kicked our butts, period. It happens and I agree, we will have players leave, so be it, life goes on. IMO, if they leave that easily we are better off anyway, regardless of how talented they are. We have benefited from other programs losing players to find better fits so to me it’s just part of football. So yea I am ok with it because while I love UK, win, lose or draw, it doesn’t affect my life. It’s just fun watching them play and I hope they win, I won’t lose sleep over it either way.

#2 is big time true. He's 5-8 after bye weeks and all of those wins were nail biters. 3 against awful Vandy teams and one against a terrible rebuilding Arkansas team.

Would love to know what happens during the bye week.

Given our track record the last several years, yes it is a surprise.

While I agree with alot of what you say, a typical OC will call plays to hide inefficiencies in team play. For example, if you have a weak OL, run a few plus some more plays to slow the aggressiveness of the D. Every opposing coach knows to pressure our Oline with 7-8 in the box. You are right tho, UT is a heck of a team right now.

2 weeks ago we saw what this Kentucky offense can do when it is working as it should. Miss St couldn't stop Rodriguez and the long drives controlled the game and time of possession. When it works, the offense can dominate a game. And the defense has played well for most of the season. The secondary has been pretty good, very solid, all season. Then comes this game. The game started well enough, other than the missed extra point. Other than the bust on that first touchdown, the secondary kept Tennessee from making those big chunk plays. They kept everything in front, which was a good plan. The offensive line was a huge issue in this one again. Give this team last year's offensive line and the results would be very similar. But I do think Levis has somehow regressed. I don't know how that has happened aside from getting hit WAY too much. I don't think he trusts that offensive line and it's in his head now. He's gun shy, it seems.

The o-line seemed to have turned a corner against Miss St. They run blocked better, they kept the pocket intact better. But they struggled in this game. It's hard to explain coming off a bye how they looked so much worse.

Those quick throws and quick slants are designed to slow and beat the pass rush and to protect the offensive line and be an extension of the running game … that’s entirely my point . The plays we are running - short of the up the gut power runs which we have always done, are due to a poor offensive line and subpar play

Mississippi state is not a measuring stick and not even in the same arena as UT lol… come on guys. UT is a much better team and their play went a long way to show our deficiencies too. UK at its best cannot beat UT, not this year. I don’t care who’s coaching or what plays you run we are an inferior team to UT and it showed. Loving UK or hating UT doesn’t change that

This is exactly what I thought would happen. I don’t think UT is vastly superior to UK talent-wise. They’re better coached though by a long shot. Stoops is incapable of out coaching anyone. Stoops is a hammer, and to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Excellent observation , and superb analogy ... Everyone else is using new power tools and stoops has his dad's hammer from 1954 .

I wish I had just a few ounces of your eternal optimism in my 210 pound body .. LOL . Your leaps of hope and your " other than's " and If's and but's are almost comical at this point . We are what , 8 games in , we looked like crap in most of the 4 games Crod was out , everyone was like " we will be OK when Crod comes back" then discovered that wasnt the problem at all. Recall South Carolina ?
But we turned no corner what so ever against MSU . Playing decent for 1 half -- we were AWFUL in the 1st half , isnt something to hang your hat on . But you be you , and I know you will, everyone has that right . An equal division of pessimist like me and eternal optimist like you make this place interesting .

1. I guess 2018 Florida, 2016 Louisville never happened? And definition of big is a subjective word...but 2018 Miss St was highly ranked when we were not and oh those 2 pesky Citrus bowl wins are hard to overlook.
2. Yes....have no answer why in all these years.
3. Actually the opposite...you're just mad and throwing stuff on a wall to make yourself feel better.
- Last year we got way better as the season wore on
- 2016 we hit another gear as Stephen Johnson got more control in the offense.
- Lynn Bowden year we found an identity with him doing stuff at QB that looked like a lost season after Terry Wilson goes down with injury in 2nd game.

In the end, it's a very disappointing year....I'm not going to sugar coat that. We took a major blow losing Coen and Wolford. Their replacements have coached terrible this season and looks like Stoops was dead set on getting a NFL guy in here that we didn't really get good coaches. And Stoops is utterly at the mercy of his offensive staff...it's really that simple.

Our red zone offense has been struggling and making TO in the red zone for the last 3-5 games. You can't do that against very good teams because they will capitalize on it and make you pay.

Yeah, he beat the Gators in 2018. Dan Mullen was in his second game at Florida and inherited a program that finished 4-7 the previous season. Mississippi State achieved that ranking by beating Stephen F. Austin, Kansas State, and Louisiana. The Bulldogs finished 8-5 that season so it was hardly an earth-shattering win. Penn St. and Kentucky both entered the Citrus Bowl with a 9-3 record. Likewise, Kentucky and Iowa both had three losses heading into the Citrus Bowl. Those bowl wins were important for the program, but neither qualify as big upsets because the teams were evenly matched.

Stoops has been at UK for a decade and has compiled a 1-14 record against Top 10 teams. That's hardly a ringing endorsement of his ability to formulate innovative gameplans and pull off big upsets. He has *never* defeated Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Lane Kiffin, or Josh Heupel. That's because those coaches have vastly superior football minds.

Apparently nothing happens during the bye week.

Looks like uT 2 games in to another 30 game streak. Stoops and coaches could beat Huepel with Huepels players.
