Who Would You want If The Rumors Prove True?

Tell Liam we are going thru a reorganization..he is now head coach/offensive coordinator for same pay. Then use the $9 million a year we spent on stoops to go buy the best players.

Not sure a lot of coaches will want to tackle Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas and LSU at an NIL deficit. Probably need someone with Kentucky ties. Most accomplished one I can think of is TCU's Sonny Dykes.

I think you have to find a guy who has proven he can win with less talent. Whoever brought up the Liberty coach. Probably not a bad idea to at least interview him.

By being willing to pay $9 million per year for what most SEC programs would consider mediocre results, we should be able to draw attention from some pretty good candidates. But I think the UK admin will panic so close to signing day and not let the process play out. They hire from within or give the job to Sumrall without any extensive search process.

I would rather go after a top oc,or DC with strong recruiting connections, then Neal Brown or sumrall. Those are very risky hires IMO.

You go and get the best offensive mind you can find. Then you pony up and get him the best DC available.

P.S. If sumrall would have more experience under his belt he might be a candidate. Brown you can see what he is. Don't think that's going to win in the SEC.

We need a young, hungry coach willing to do what it takes to take a mid-level SEC team to the next level. Someone fresh and eager to carry on what Stoops has started.

The search begins and ends with Bill Belichek.

Sources are telling me the short list is: Eddie Gran, Coach O, and Bobby Petrino. Big if true…

I say we take the 9 million we are paying Stoops, pay 4 million to a new coach, and split the other five between a quarterback, running back, receiver, corner back and edge rusher, 1 million each.

1. UK is going to have 9M baseline ....also, UK is goign to get a buyout from Texas Am...so even extra money in UK bank accounts to throw at a candidate. UK has paid off Scangerello and some of Eddie Gran....but point is UK has not fired a coach in a while for huge money.....the coffers should be more than full to throw out any dollar figure.
2. I'd argue Sumrall would be selling short as top candidate.
3. UK is a better job than 11 years ago (credit to Stoops) and truly the BIG10 and SEC jobs are premier now...ahead of PAC, ACC, B12, etc... So I'd be looking to poach those jobs first. Mike Norvell, Dabo, ...not so sure Sonny Dykes at TCU, Mike Gundy.
4. I have no clue why UK would want Neal Brown.....he's not done much at a similar level at WVU. So he's proven....just proven he's a 7 win coach in B12...not much to get hyped for that hire
5. I'm not a huge Coen fan....he's still alot to prove as coordinator and I'd argue Sumrall was as good on his ball. Coen could be a disaster defensively, I question his decision making as he got Yenser and Woodard here. The toughness/culture would be a concern, player discipline (i.e. Barion Brown) would be a concern.

If UK settles back on Sumrall....I think that isn't terrible. But UK needs to pay eons of money for staff to hire them up soem elite coordinators.
How about a 4.5 mil contract for coen and same for big dawg let them run the show with coen as HC

Whoever we go after needs to have strong recruiting connections in Ohio/Michigan/PA. The Stoops recruiting formula is one we need to keep using.
