we know what we are getting with some guys like diallo and Knox but the rest you can make a case for any of them whether they are freshman or sophomores that could be the biggest suprise on this years team. For me I'm going baker, shai, or Richards. I expect weynen to be better and skj can't be any worse. I think teams will forget about baker since he is not a typical uk player in the cal era but he can flat out stroke it and can keep the defense honest. With shai he can play pg or sg and can really take over if he needs to whether driving or shooting he can be deadly. Then you have richards the guy is a top 15 center I know he hasn't played basketball very long but he's versatile and he could be a good not great rim protector. I think he could come in and be as good as wcs was during his sophomore yr. in your opinion, who do you feel will be the biggest suprise(s) on this years team,

Brad, it will be surprising how much he is able to play this season...

I think the biggest suprise for him will be him playing when the game isn't not out of reach and more than 5 mins left in the game. I think he will have a similar career to that of Hawkins and Willis. They didn't show a whole lot their first two years but their last two they were solid contributors. Plus he's a shooter and you can never have too many.

I'll say skj since he played so little last year it will surprise us all if he has a good year.
Would love to see him as well. I didn't mention him on purpose because I'm not expecting him to be a major contributor till his jr and sr years. I think he is more of a four like skal should of been. He can knock down those 15 foot jumpers but isn't physical enough down low yet

I hope he gets some chances to score but if he is depended upon to score I won't be as happy with the coming season as I thought I would be... Don't taze me Bro...

Shai Alexander.

I think the fact that he was a late bloomer and was at the Derby, instead of the McDonalds, game he's extremely undervalued. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the best guard in our class.

I really like him a lot he likes to facilitate more but will scor if needs to with ease. I also think him and green are two years players and I know we probably won't get Langford but it sounds like quickley is ours to lose. I could see one of the two being a OAD and shai being the more likely of the two since he is a combo guard and is taller and can run the show and shoot a littleness as well. Would love to have both though stay two years. I know it was an all star game but he looked very impressive at the derby classic and was by far the best player on the floor. Glad we stole him from fla. It's a little payback for jai Lucas back in the day who was going to go to uk but fla was the in team at the time. Shai is a do whatever it takes type of player who will play hard and if he has 2 8 assists and 5 rebounds and it leads to a win he seems like a guy that doesn't care as much about stats as he does winning. Plus having the other studs on our team he will shine even brighter. I'm really excited about baker though cause we aren't use to having a guy ranked where he is in the cal area. If he was a bcg or tubby recruit we would be drooling over baker. One things for sure is he can flat out shoot and I think he will hit some big shots for us this yr. I envision him playing 10-15 mins a game by midsession.

If Brad would lose about 25lb he could help maybe his Jr and Sr years. Now, he's just too fat and slow. reminds me of the HS Richie Farmer.

I agree. He's an absolute stud.

Sure I know the answer, but if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?

I think there could be more than one,Baker and Alexander could both be surprises. As someone else said SKJ will be a surprise if he plays meaningful minutes for the entire season,Richards could be more ready from day 1 than we think.

I hope there are no Skal type surprises in store for us on this team.Sorting out who does what for this team could take until early January. at least

Baker. Everyone is overlooking this underrated shooter. He is what we need on a team full of athletes. WE NEED SHOOTERS. He will be the best shooter we have.

I would go with Nick Richards. He will show himself to be one of the most athletic bigs in college basketball and produce to the amount of being a fringe lottery pick after being a OAD at UK.

He will rebound at a high level and command a double team in the post. He has talent and height. I believe our staff will show him exactly how to use both to his advantage.

Bamba may have been the better players but the difference between him and Richards will be a whole lot less than most assumed.

Richards is now listed as 7'0" 239 lbs with a 7'3" wingspan. Is ranked as the #2 C overall and as high as #14 overall while being the best player to come out of the state of NY. He is going to block a lot of shots, finish tons of lobs, and have scouts drooling over his size, offensive footwork, and defense. When he committed, he made it known that he wanted to be the #1 pick in the draft and will work as hard as possible to make that come true. I don't see him becoming #1, but definitely see why some think he could very well be a OAD lottery pick. He just needs to build up his stamina and learn to avoid foul trouble, like most all great FR bigs.

Most only say Diallo, Knox, and JV are our only definite OAD players, but I will continue adding Richards to that list until I see a reason to think otherwise.

All in my completely worthless opinion, as always.

Biggest surprise to most of the BBN will be PJ Washington. Dude has a great attitude and will be a work horse in the paint.

I have to go with Washington. Saw a couple of games and he is a player. I hope they all surprise us all.

Why would your opinion be worthless ?

I simply add "In my completely worthless opinion, as always"

As an attempt to prevent other posters from taking my posts as threats or fighting words. Because that's all we are, ultimately. Fans giving an opinion that some may extremely disagree with, which is fine, but if we all realize our opinions are basically worthless, I think it helps put everything into perspective.

Ahh. Makes sense

The surprise will be: a lot of three guard line-up. The big players will be on the bench at the start of the year.
