Who was your first favorite UK player?

My original favorite was Derek Anderson when I was 9. Then, Tayshaun came around. I'm right handed, but changed my shot to my left hand to be like him. Had his floater down perfectly.

Walter McCarty

At the age of 7, I teared up watching the "One Shining Moment" video in 1996 knowing Walter would never play for UK again.

Tom Parker was a lefty and when i was 10 i thought that was really cool and you got him inside 15 feet he was deadly

My first real memory of keeping up with the players was Kevin Grevey. What a shooter.

Billy Ray Lickert - I think I liked the name more than the player. This was before games were televised so I had to depend on Caywood to describe all the action.

Cotton Nash -- 1961-62 season. I was 15.

I saw Hagan and Ramsey play when I was 7, but really didn't become a hard-core fan, myself, until later.

Keith Bogans was 10 when he joined the team and not sure that I have ever had a more favorite player at UK, although Chuck Hayes is a close second.

Reggie Hanson was my first favorite Wildcat. I'd moved to KY from MN the year before UK hired Pitino

Jamal Mashburn. I was 8 years old and just fascinated with him. It was really the time I started to love the game. I remember going to see him play in South Carolina one year. Then, when he went pro, all I wanted for my birthday one year was his Fila shoes. Haha.

Since I discovered my inner Go Big Blue-ness during the 1977-78 season, I'll say Macy.

BUT--- later, when I was all-in, watching every single game, living and dying on every shot, yelling at the tv as if it could reverse the ref's horrible call...

the guy I wanted to be...

Kenny "Sky" Walker.

Mine too. I grew up in VA, started college at Georgetown (KY) but then transferred to UK after I met my girlfriend there. She took me to see us whup #12 LSU the day after Valentines Day 1990 and from then on I was hooked.
