Who is the Biggest Choke Artist -- Jay Wright or Bill Self?

lol bro you can’t be taken serious

Why not ? Cal has had MORE talent than Self, he only has 1 title also. So why is Self labeled a choker and Cal not ? Not bashing Cal by no means, I would just like to hear your reasoning for being different ? Other than Cal coaches at UK.

lol bro Self has 15 5 stars since 2009 and he keeps his 5 stars and 4 stars mostly for 2-4 years. Cal literally has freshman who aren’t in shape, can’t play defense and come in thinking it’s AAU ball. Yet somehow Cal gets these freshman, who were just high schoolers 5 months ago to be a lethal team in march and put egos aside and play as one and most importantly play defense. I didn’t know Cal didn’t feed the post to Towns in 2015 nor did I realize Cal missed that free throw against kansas in 2008 and who could forget cal going 2-34 on threes in 2010 against west virginia or when cal didn’t play defense on Luke Maye....

Under Bill Self, Kansas has lost FIVE tournament games against teams seeded at least 8 spots lower. Bucknell, Bradley, VCU, Stanford, UNI.

This is widely know across the sport. Kansas has a habit of choking in big games against opponents they shouldn't be losing to.

No but he is the coach and calls plays. (KAT not getting the ball), and he sure as hell took the air out of the ball against Wisconsin (all on Cal). I love Cal, but he is notorious for slowing a game down when he gets a lead. When you are the better team (and by a wide margin), the WORST thing to do is shorten the game and let the lesser team hang around. When you have the better team, you want to have as many possessions are possible (coaching 101). The fewer possessions, the better chance a lesser team has to stay close, thus beating you. Exactly what happened in the game. HE blew the game against Kansas while at Memphis. Yes the kid missed crucial free throws, but Memphis had a big lead, Cal took the air out of the ball, slowed the players down, they lost momentum. He needs to learn to keep the foot on the gas and put teams away, not get nervous and slow it down and let teams hang around.

I agree that cal needs to stop playing stall ball and put his foot on their faces when we get up by 10 but for some reason he doesn’t

There is no dominant tournament coach at the moment. Every single one of them has his bugaboos. Cal was the last to have a great run (four Final Fours in five years), but he is oh-for-four since. There are like five top guys (Cal, K, Wright, Self, Roy) who ALL underachieve more than they achieve if you look at the talent at their disposal. Look at Cal. You'd have to say he overachieved in 2011 and 2014, underachieved in 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Even in saying that, he had MANY great wins in those years, too.

huh?

Just look at two years ago. The wins over Wofford (yes, Wofford) and Houston were big boy wins. Both those teams pushed us and we kept our composure and won. But then we didn't close the deal against an Auburn team we had beaten by 30 points a month earlier, and without one of their top scorers. So as the two seed, you'd have to say we underachieved. That's what you'd say if Kansas had done that.
