Serious question, they played a GREAT game. Who else in the entire country also "survives" this game? Because, let's be for real here, anyone else in the country that stepped on the floor with them tonight, and Ole Miss playing so far and away above their head all game long. ANYONE else is also just going "SURVIVE" that thing. So, you tell me ...

Who else do you have that would've won this game?

Not a single team comes to my mind, and if the big blue tint is too shady for me to see thru, go ahead, give it your best shot.

I laugh out loud at the thought the last unbeaten team in college basketball (which ill not be named here) would have won !

Ole Miss probably would've won by 10-12 against anyone I've seen so far, We were lucky.

Good thing they give us a 12 point headstart.

Just wanted to make this thread to make the point. Not many. Anyone playing an average to below average game the way UK did tonight would not have won. ANYONE in the COUNTRY. And I'm not even going to say that overall UK played below average or even average. UK hit 3 pointers like a pro. That 11-20 55% from 3 is as much a reason why we ultimately won as anything, because we're NOT LOSING EVER when we shoot the 3 pointer % for volume and percentage. This game just proves that fact in my mind all the more. So we can debate about how well or bad UK played.

So first of all, it would have taken better effort and play to even enter this conversation.

Some teams, even playing their best would have fallen short. That is a given.

I'm thinking only the top tier team (top ten teams) could even enter this conversation and that's if they were to play a good to GREAT game.

Top teams playing their best would win this game, regardless, a lot of the things that happened in this game would not have occurred, and thus, totally different game - this includes UK)

Maybe Duke, Wisky, Virginia. that's about it. big maybe on them as well. I honestly don't see anyone else. Those are the kinds of games you simply LOSE in conference play. I've seen it for 40 years, and that's the look, kind and feel of a game that has loss written all over it for every team all over the country, no matter how good you look and big of a # is beside your name. Really, coming out of it could be called almost miraculous. Look at all the things that happened for us to win.

Maybe, if we do ultimately go 40-0, we look back on this game and say "it was magical to have won that game against Ole Miss, and that was the game we all came in retrospect to say : we were destined to win it all and go 40-0." Because, after all we're expecting UK to lose a game (if they do end up losing) in one of these games where we are 100% absolutely NOT expecting them to lose in a game to a team that has really no business to lose to. Yet, we won THAT game.

Was this it ?

How hella' ironic and crazy insanely stupid nuts would that be if we all come that realization after a 40-0 season this year?

Food for thought

Everyone because Ole Miss will never play like that again until Next year when they face UK. This bullsh*t of a league needs to take EVERY game serious and not just the UK game. I swear to God I wish we were in a BBall conference.

It would have been tough for anyone but I also go along with the poster who said Ole Miss wouldn't have played the same against a team not saying KENTUCKY on the jersey.

Exactly
taking that position is totally against the premise of this post. sure, you can say that. But you guys understand where I'm ultimately coming from in this question.

Duke would have blasted them as Okafor wouldn't have missed all those shots around the glass. He'd have had 20 and the way they shoot 3s with the open looks we were getting, well it just wouldn't have been a game. The refereeing would have been greatly different as well. Ole Miss played great but it wasn't enough even on a flat night for the frosh and just about everyone but the Twins.

Best response yet, that's what I was looking for. Give some concrete reasons when stepping up to the plate on this one.

That said, in NO WAY do I think they would've "blasted" Ole Miss the way the rebels played tonight.... that simply takes too much away from the kind of great game and effort they played tonight.

We are every bodies Super Bowl.
That's why come Tourney time we are ready.
Then everyone is everyone's Super Bowl.

Not Kansas' superbowl...

They were still just Ole Miss people

Not many teams out their could of beaten them. It always pains me to watch sec teams play other conferences in OOC and in the NCAA tourney and they never bring it the way they bring it when they hit the court against us.
If they played that way all year they would have been undefeated leading up to this game instead of bein horrible.
They will drop back into their old ways until they see Kentucky on the opposing teams jersey. Seems about every sec team is this way.

Posters were bashing Lunardi a week or so ago because he said that the odds were against us going undefeated. Hopefully, many learned a valuable lesson last night because the odds almost caught up with us.

I wasn't able to watch the game live so I watched the replay and focused on how in the world Ol Miss came so close. They hit contested 3's and hit many of them while moving. It kinda reminded me of Arizona in 1999. They only beat us then by playing an amazing game and hitting amazing shots.

I have a feeling we will have another challenge like the one we had last night. I just hope the final result is the same. I would LOVE to beat the odds!

Don't go there, preach. Don't go to that dark place called dementia. Don't you mean the 1997 game?

And lord help Ole Miss if Kentucky threw the Duke jersey on... Ole Miss would have had to grab 5 fans to play in the final minutes... everyone would have fouled out.

Most any team that would have showed up and played defense and rebounded could have beaten them. Must have worked a lot on offense the last 9 days, because they sure didn't play the defense that they've been playing. You have to bring it every night on defense. A lot of us have said if we hit 6, 7 , or more three's nobody's going to beat us. Well if we don't defend they will. Almost happened against Ole Miss. If we defend they way we have all year we win by 30 or more tonight.

My brother a University of Dayton grad points out (tongue in cheek)this morning that Dayton beat Ole Miss by 4 and we only beat Ole Miss by three in overtime. So he thinks they are better than us and deserve the number one ranking. Yeah I am sure their six foot six center would stay with our bigs.

The scary thing is that if this had been an NCAA tournament game I would have had a heart attack. I will say that it is the best game I have seen in Rupp for a while.

No one else in the country would have beaten Mississippi last night. And, by the way, WE do not play particularly well at Rupp. Other teams seem to,,,,,

K-E-N-T-U-C-K-Y brought that out of Ole Miss, they won;t play another game like this one the rest of the season. The Cats broke them tonight.
