Which UK player(s) were you completely wrong about before they got here?

You mean Rob Rock, right? ;) He was so frustrating to watch at times.
I think it was Lob Rock lol.
In fairness, Rob was a part of the #1 '84 class but he didn't make the McDonald's AA team so he was more of a Keon Brooks level recruit definitely not a can't miss prospect.
No one recruited better on paper than UK in '82,'83 and 84 but so many underachieved.
Sky Walker was the only true star from those three classes.
Blackmon and Madison were busts.
Jenkins, Lock, were overrated.
Bennett was a dominate HS player who's skills didn't translate as well enough on the college level for stardom plus the injuries.
Gunther Behnke and Todd May never played.
Davender was a very good college player.

Todd May never played.
IIRC, he played until the Christmas break. When he left it was a surprise because, although he wasn't a star, he was playing pretty well for a freshman.

It could be I'm remembering some other Eastern Ky star who didn't quite pan out.

Yeah I shouldn't have used the word never.
It was very little as I have no recollection of seeing him on the floor.
I'd have to look up his actual games played.

I don't think I've seen one person say Dontaie Allen and I know a ton of you loved him and knew for a fact it was Cals fault he sucked.

For me it was Briscoe, I really thought he was going to be Kemba like in college. Also Hamidou Diallo. While I think he was still ok at UK, he's one that would be in my top 3 in excitement to see play for us.

For anyone interested: Allen is currently averaging 7.1 points per game and is playing 17.7 minutes per game. He is shooting 33.3%. Those stats are for Western KY!

A LOT of our posters were wrong on this one.

You are correct. Always heard his dad made him leave because Kenny Walker was playing more minutes.

Diallio is definitely one for me . Wasn’t he the top ranked 2 guard coming in?

I didn't know most of this:

After his prep days, May signed to play his college basketball at the University of Kentucky. After only five games he left UK. He had been recruited there in the same class as Kenny "Sky" Walker and Roger Harden. No less an authority that Kentucky coach Joe B. Hall said his abilities had no ceiling. The praise from Walker and Coach Joe B. Hall for May was overwhelming as to his abilities but that wasn't where he wanted to be.
After five games at UK, May transferred to Wake Forset but never played a game for them after breaking his foot and re-injuring it after it had healed.
May transferred to local Pikeville College where he played and averaged over 40 pts. per game.
Todd May is a member of the Kentucky Basketball High School Hall of Fame. He is a friend of the Mountain Sports Hall of Fame.
