Personally, I think he's the most consistent one that Cal has had since being here. No one else comes to mind. There have been championship teams that could prop some up, but I don't think anyone has ever been more dependable. He may stand out more due to this being a down year for the cats than he would on a juggernaut of a team, which I think makes him all the more special. Crazy to think he was a runner-up recruit for Cal, as Ulis wasn't his first choice.
I'm about the same age as you, but I would say he's the best I've seen at UK. I've seen guys that were faster or shot better, but all around he's the best IMO.
I always remember Travis Ford's year in 1993 was pretty strong. Still, I have to say Ulis is about 4 inches away from being a 'perfect' point guard. But then again, if he was 6'1", he wouldn't be Ulis!
If Tyler continues, I believe he will hold the records over all Kentucky Point Guards, particularly his ratio of assists to turnovers. He may be the best we have every had!
Ulis has the rare ability to shoot it drive it and pass it.
He is ultra quick and can play in your face defense and rarely turns it over.
He is a winner a leader and a competitor.
Tyler Ulis is the greatest pg to ever lace em up at UK.
ulis has done better than i think many thought when cal handed him the ball. i think he has controlled our team and that is saying something with the changes as of two weeks ago. we're a better team because we are finally building on top of ulis' consistency. we are trending up still since willis secured minutes and we'll find out a lot again to night even if barnes removes his name as winning coach.
For me, it's Minniefield, Epps, Turner, Wall, and Ulis. I can't decide who tops out, but if Ulis scores like he has been doing, he's going to eclipse them... even Wall.
Hard to believe but yeah, he may be even better than Wall and Knight. We'll see, though- Wall could be dominant and Knight took it to another level in March.
