I liked what I saw. He did not lose a year of eligibility as well. I know a new QB is coming in for one year so does that mean they are giving up on Boley. The bottom line is that I do not care who the QB is,, without a good OL and a decent offensive scheme, we are going nowhere.

We appear to be in for a two or maybe 3 way battle for the QB job. The real question is no matter who is back there can we upgrade protection enough that it will make any difference.

Our offensive line was so bad that it ran BV out of football altogether, that is beyond sad. I know some will say that is not the case or it isn't that simple but at the end of the day(or season if you will) he was so beat up that walking away was his best option.

He will have a shot to win the job during a spring competition. I doubt he wins because of Calzada's experience. After Calzada they have 3 freshmen. One is going to end up as backup. I would say if Boley beat out for the 2nd string QB, he will transfer thru the spring portal.

He was a true frosh. As such, did some good, did some bad. He will get better. He will compete this spring and is likely to be the second string QB next year, unless Saunders is just flat out too good. Then, I would suspect, going into transfer portal season next year, the staff will know if it has the 2026 starter on the roster.

I believe Boley's fate is in his own hands. If he works hard over the summer, builds his body, and studies the game then there is a good possibility that he competes for starter.

Then again, Stoops is the coach who wtf knows what will happen. Maybe we will just start a running back at quarterback and run the option. idk.

Boley should leave before stoops does a BVG on him . BVG after dealing with stoops for a year retired . Not surprising that stoops is recruiting over in state product boley . mind boggling the qb situation every year under stoops in fact the whole stoops football program is mindboggling . THANKS MITCH

Stoops is not recruiting over Boley any differently than every coach tries to recruit the position.

Boley got real experience in a RS year and that is good news. He now knows what he needs to work on and why. There is nothing wrong with how the staff handled him. The thought was the BV would probably start for 2 years, but that did not work out.

Boley has some tools…height, solid arm strength, throws the rollout, etc. his biggest issue even in hs was he was going to turn it over if the game was against decent competition and he had to go make plays. So the question is can he improve that.

BV must of really suffered a beat down. With NIL and him being a former 5 star, he couple probably still have demanded some decent money.

Boley, will not get better sitting on the bench watching a hired gun QB from the portal getting the snaps. If Boley had really thought about what Stoops has done for past 5 years, he would have hit the portal. I can't imagine why a good high school QB would even take a phone call from Ole Portal Stoops. It is just insane to think doing the same thing every year will get differnt results. It takes more than a summer and spring practice for a QB to really be ready to efficiently run a new offense.

Boley really surprised me his first two late season appearances. Then disappointed vs ul. Hard to read anything from the ul game because so many uk guys were just going through the motions.

I think he's very promising and the presumed starter. I think stone pushed him after.

This is just wrong. Under this philosophy, Arch Manning would never be at Texas nor would any other pup wait his turn in any program. Most freshmen are smart enough to know that they need time to develop before being thrown to the wolves.

1. Boley ain't starting 2025..Calzada is going to be the starter.
2. Maybe Calzada struggles and by mid-end of 2025...Boley gets the starts....but not to the start the year
3. Hopefully, Boley doesn't get iffy and transfers after next year.....Calzada luckily is just a 1 year QB so Boley/Saunders know 2026 is wide open
4. Then Boley has to beat out Saunders for 2026...

THat is how this unfolds IMO

It's ridiculous to start from the premise that Boley has any reasonable expectation of being our starter as frosh or even RS frosh for that matter. Might happen next year, but frankly I doubt he beats Calzada. So what? Work and study, and when you are ready, you'll be the man. Calzada has one year. BVG might have returned. What's the difference whether BVG or ZC if you're Boley, assuming you don't win the job? WTF do people think, that Stoops is a fool who'll refuse to play his best QB? You do a young QB a favor letting him sharpen his tools, adjust to college life and grow up a bit before making him responsible for leading your team.

There's a big difference between point guard and quarterback.

Stoops doesn't have the patience or the know how to develop a QB from a freshmen. It's the biggest of many reasons why he hasn't gotten us to the next level and never will.
Patience is out the window for stoops. If he doesn’t go to a bowl then he won’t be around to see a homegrown qb develop. He has likely tethered his future here to ZC.

Boley is a freshman lol. He’s going to be the backup and be the front runner for the job the season after. If he better then Zach nke then he’ll play earlier

From the body of work at UGA and UK don’t see how BV would demand much NIL from anyone. Just never proved anything at either school.

Nicely written good job 👍

Stoops and UK aren't paying Calzada to sit of bench. Barring injury Boley will not start the season. The question is Boley willing to sit the bench one more season. After next year Stoops will be gone and he might have a chance to start. That said the new coach might clean house and bring in his own guy at QB. We are in a he'll of a pickle right now. We have the same schedule next year with less talent. The season will be a disaster and Stops WILL be gone. Don't know how we recruit next year with all that going on. I read lots of stuff on here where fans talk about next season completely removed from the reality of where we are and where we are heading

Yes, I think he did probably more than we know. You make a good point about NIL money but you have to be able to walk around in order to spend it I guess.

What are the odds that Portal Stoops will bring in another portal QB next year. Boley sits on the pine all year so he will not be ready. Stoops goes and gets another portal QB. He hs done this now for 5 years, why would he change now. This is why I do not think what I previously said is wrong as you, Caveman Catfan states. You have a shvt load more faith in Stoops than anyone on this board.

Yep I think Boley transfers out. I think Stoops showed his hand to Boley last year and if something else comes open, boley would be stupid not to take it and run.

It's interesting, one half at Texas had me convinced Boley was the guy for the future. Then the Louisville game kind of unwound that feeling for me.
No pressure on the road. Pressure at home against UL. He’s a freshman. Go figure

Like you said, Calzada has one more year to play college football. Boley, like all players, will compete for playing time in practice. Boley has an excellent frame and a lot of arm talent. He has already made some great throws in games, but also made lots of mistakes. Young college QBs typically make painful mistakes as part of their learning process.

Stoops is trying to overcome a 4-8 season and turn the program back around. Let's resist making fast judgments concerning whether or not he can actually do it. None of us knows what the future holds, but we can comment on the methodology. The right methodology is to create more and better competition in practice for all the playing roles. That's what Stoops is doing. Calzada, Boley, Saunders, and Ward will compete for roles in the QB room. Boley has 4 more years of eligibility, and the eventual competition appears to involve Boley vs. Saunders. What Saunders accomplished against good competition in hs in PA was amazing. Boley has his hands full but shows no signs of backing down.
