When will Stoops call off the dogs against ULL?

A statement in Ulismymans betting thread got me thinking about that. How will Stoops handle this. He has asked fans to come out to support our team. We are playing in front of what will certainly be a sellout crowd. It's the first game in what amounts to a new stadium and our young team can use the positive energy they'll get from the fans. The more I think about it, I don't think he will pull most of the starters, regardless of spread, until midway through the 4th. Barker may come in for the entire 4th so long as we're up by 4 td's.

UK has a game AT SC the week after. I'd be shocked if Stoops risks our starting players' health by having them in during a blowout midway through the 4th. We need all hands on deck for the SC game.

Yeah, that's my only reservation.

Stoops may not want too show too much either. Assuming we are in such a great position...

Do not underestimate Mark Hudspeth. This team is used to winning and they will play absolutely to win. We should win, but to predict winning scores and pulling starters is plainly foolish. The Ragin Cajuns have marched into better teams than us and upset a power five opponent.

Who...

With all due respect to the OP, I would prefer that we wait until about the middle of the 3rd Quarter Sat night before asking the question. Based on the O/U of about 58 and the line being 17 in UK's favor, the betting experts are predicting an outcome in the range of 37-21 to 38-20 UK. To me, that wouldn't justify pulling most of the starters until late in the 4th Quarter. JMO, however.

What p5 team have they beaten? When? They have more holes to fill than us and our replacements may play in the NFL. Why on earth are so many of you worried about ULL? Did you actually look at their results last year?

First of all this isn't basketball, you don't play starters into the 4th quarter. Stoops will be rotating players in from the 2, and even the 3 deep as early as the first quarter regardless of the score.

Realize people that when we put out our second and even third wave of offensive skill players there isn't a huge drop off. We are also solidly 2/3 deep on defense as well. I do think Stoops will use a lot of players Saturday regardless of the score becasue we are much deeper than we have been in years - maybe decades.

This is a different Kentucky team.

Maybe against ULL we can go 3 deep everywhere, but we have a lot of young guys. I'll wait and see before I go proclaiming best in decades. I do hope you are right.

I went back 5 years and could not find where they have ever beaten what we now call a Power 5 team. They did have a 7 point loss to Arizona in 2011 and a 7 point loss to Florida in 2012 but on every other occasion that have been pretty much blown out by 25-30 or more points.

I think Coach Stoops background and what I have come to know of him in his time here as being a person of Class and I expect that to come from him. I do think that given the opertunity that he will spread it around, for more reasons then not running the score up.
