I think next year if we get EJ,Nick and Quickley back we get #9 not sure about this year I can see us winning or losing in the E8 or F4.

Nick is gone. With that said, I think the answer is in the next five years.
Zero chance Nick comes back ( nor should he ) Really doubt we get EJ and Quick back either but Quick is way more likely then EJ as EJ was all but gone last year . None the less with Juzang , brooks , Allen back with the 6 recruits we have now and a grad back up point guard and 1-2 bigs depending on EJ we will be a top 5 team. I fully believe this season we have a better shot at a title then next season though Clarke and Boston will be 2 of the top 10 players in cbb next season so maybe not .
And to answer the question - we will win a title within the next 2-3 seasons.

College basketball in general is down this season which will benefit UK once in the Dance.
Also, with Juzang, Sestina and Brooks we have just enough depth too.

There's a good chance we lose 2 of the 3 and maybe even all 3. Cal has never returned an MCD AA PG for a Jr year. EJ almost went last year. If he's smart he would come back, but who knows with him. Nick deserves to go with the year he's putting together. I would say in the next 3 years. We have as good a chance as anyone this year and we usually do so I think we have a slight edge. Next year if we add or get back just a few more pieces we should have a real shot at something special. Cal seems like he is getting antsy. He isn't protecting kids draft stock anymore and says I want to win the game. It's coming and then I think we could even see a few years in a row of FFs and a title or two.
As long as we avoid having a first half like we did vs. Vandy
Cal had mentioned in his presser about a team that UK played going like 8 for 72 from three in games leading up to the UK game but then hit 9 v the Cats.

Once in the Dance the stakes are equal.
This year will be a story on which team can put a string of six wins together.
That would be a team that is good on both ends of the floor, O and D.
A team that has at least 3 legit scorers who could go off for 20 plus on any given night. We have that too.
A team that has a lock down defender-see Hagans.
A team that shoots a high % from the FT line...we do.
We are already “good” at both O and D and I think in 2 more months ie FF time we will be great.
At the same time, because Cal will be our coach win we win #9. Oxymoron, I think.

Honestly I think it will be after Cal leaves. UK Coaches suck at winning national titles and that is a tradition that goes back to Joe B. Hall. Other than the legendary Baron, no one has won more than 1 title. I'm not sure why UK coaches cannot win multiple times post-Rupp but Hall (75, 84), Pitino (93, 97), Cal (2010, 2011, 2014, 2015) and maybe even Tubby should have won a 2nd title (2003 for Tubby was pretty damn good guys but I know, Tubby was the coach).

That’s a tough one i say #9 first we still need about 2 good recruiting classes to win the east Florida is on the rise and Georgia is always tough

Yeah it’s sad that anyone would damn a Coach for getting us to the FF so often. But that is the mindset today, fans just don’t seem to be proud of their teams today.

Not happening this year. All it takes is one game of Richards picking up two quick fouls in the first half. We are a completely different team when Richards isn’t on the floor and we don’t have the depth to make up for his production or his size on the interior. The refs will see to it that it happens. And I’m still not sold on Maxey. He’s the definition of a streaky shooter and still plays out of control at times.
Well we are still in January, I guess no one could improve in two more months of basketball games and practice.

You hit the nail on the head. I believe we will improve and hit another gear soon, because Cal’s team usually do. Damn can you imagine how good this team can be if we hit that gear?
Idc how much better they get. We’ve seen enough basketball from this team to know that it is very hard for them to stop straight line drives. And with Cal’s preferred man-to-man defense, all it takes is one team driving at Richards for him to pick up two quick ones. And you know how the refs like to call ghost fouls on us in the tourney anyways. Foul trouble and quality depth isn’t something you can just improve on. Honestly, the only thing we really have going for us is that there isn’t really one great team out there. We have a solid punchers chance, but in reality, this is a good team. Not great.
I feel the exact same way. We would need an absolutely stacked roster to pull it off.
Lets pray we get Brown and Banchero........ those 2 with Boston and Clarke might just be good enough to win 5 on 8 matchups
My only source is that besides the injury to Noel in 2013 all of Cal’s teams have shown improvements going into the tournament. And I don’t think you have to be great this year to be in the mix for the FF. Our problems today may not be problems in the middle of March so I’ll wait and see in person who’s more correct.
I hope to god you are. I just don’t have faith that we can keep Nick from foul trouble for 6 games in a row against good competition. We go as Nick goes. That was made very apparent the last two games.
With Nick I just have to go with how much that he has improved and how much more he will continue to do. We have to grow more no doubt to reach the expectations that we want but I think it will be a done puzzle by mid March.
This is a pretty widespread opinion, believe it or not. My cousin was the star running back at a local high school a few years back. We followed his games via radio when the wife and I couldn’t attend.
The two radio broadcasters were discussing Cal/UK Basketball. One of the announcers said to the other announcer that Cal would never be allowed to win another title here. Was kinda surreal to hear them state on the radio of a local high school football game. I had actually been thinking the exact same thing during that offseason and since. This was in the fall of 2015.
Yep.... I'm not saying to fire Cal ....nope... but I am looking forward to him retiring so we can actually be allowed to win a title again.

There’s absolutely a lot of truth in this. It’s as plain as the nose on Cal’s face. Not one doubt in my mind they’ve attempted to keep Cal from winning titles here. How some people can’t see it is beyond me.
You know, usually there are 4 or 5 teams that are stand out favorites and you know they are capable. This year it doesn’t look like any of the blue bloods can put that many games together.
I think Cal retires from UK, so, I believe the answers are the same. When Cal wins #2, UK wins #9. I think it is next year.

Not last year. Whatever you think about refs in that game, UK had the ball at the end of regulation with the score tied and couldn’t make a basket.
So lets ignore that 0 whistles against Auburn the final 10 minutes of regulation?
Game should never of been close at the end. refs cheated to get Auburn in that position. your way of thinking is as barbaric as people thinking FT's need to be equal in games to show fairness.
