When the polls come out Monday...

... we'll be ranked ahead of the teams of our former coach AND the two college coaches we tried to hire.
I mean almost everybody lost.
We should be top 5.
Looking at the rankings only Kansas, Auburn and Tennessee should be ahead of us.
We should come at #4 in the AP poll unless we got some haters.

It was smart scheduling to have four straight cupcakes right at the same time everybody's playing the non-conference tournaments beating up on each other.

I for one do not want to play in any of these tournaments where you got to play at 12:00 at night.
Do not do it ever Coach Pope!

It's to our advantage to let those teams beat each other up while we play our schedule building our confidence and rising up the rankings which matter when it comes to seeding later.
You got to get high as you can so you don't drop that much when you do lose.

We have a inside track to stay top 15 all year.

Maybe #3.
Wait what….

Tenn is ahead of UK and did not lose.
Auburn is def moving up likely to #2.
ISU is #5 and loss to Auburn (2 pts). The pollsters have usually not moved high ranked teams much for a loss to a high ranked team, ie Duke will likely stay at #11 with a loss to Kansas.

It will be KU Auburn Tenn ISU and UK

Also they are considering all these top teams played top teams this week while UK played Eastern Kentucky and Jackson Southern U

Iowa state will fall below.
I mean that's my view.

That's definitely not the Iowa State Blue devils if you get what I'm saying.

I think we come in at #6. I think Bama jumps us after their win against Houston. They were just barely behind us in points in the AP poll last week.

UCONN should fall like a sinking submarine at this point. They got embarrassed by unranked teams all week in Maui, then blown out last night.

Yes I know one of their players ended up in the hospital, but there were only 2-ish mins left in the game and they were already toast by that point.

I'll be shocked if they're even in the top 25.

To your point, though, yes it will be nice to be ranked higher than all three of those clowns. I made a comment to a friend this week that it would be even better if we were able to beat all three this year (one in Feb, the other two in the NCCAT), just to stick it to them.

I think it goes roughly

1. Kansas
2. Auburn
3. UT
4. UK
5. Alabama
6. Marquette
7. Gonzaga
8. Iowa State
9. Houston
10. Purdue
11. Wisconsin
12. Duke
13. Cincinatti
14. Baylor
15. Florida
16. Arkansas
17. UNC
18. UCONN
19. Indiana
20. Ole Miss
21. Memphis
22. Arizona
22. Miss St.
23. Tx A&M
24. BYU

Zero chance IU will be that high after their 'performance' against UofL, and then probably getting run by Zaga. We may not see them in the T25.

Yeah, strictly going by today's results.

Assuming Gonzaga runs them off the floor too, they could fall out.

Some big top 25 implications between now and Monday. I'll try to re-run it Sunday night.

Gonzaga lost to an unranked team while ISU lost by 2 pts to the #2 team. No way they are ahead of them.
Purdue beats a cupcake and moves from 13 to 10?

For those that think rankings in November don’t matter, they do. Perception is important, the committee is made up of humans with opinions.

UK is climbing and being top 5 is a whole lot better than being 23rd.

Lose once as a top 5 team, you're still top 10, lose 1 game as the 23rd ranked team and you're out and forgotten about and it might take several good wins to get back in.

The climb back up is really hard, especially with the strength of the SEC this year.

I’m going to say
1 KU
2 Auburn (best team right now)
3 UT
4 UK
5 ISU
6 Alabama
7 Marquette
8 Gonzaga
9 Wisconsin
10 Purdue
11 Duke
12 Houston
13 Cincinnati
14 Florida
15 Baylor

I mean, considering the uproar when Pope was first hired, who would have predicted or imagined that a few weeks into the season Pope would have UK ranked higher than all of the leading candidates that most people wanted instead?

The AP, like alot on this board had no clue as to just how good Kentucky was going to be this season.

But at least I knew and kept you guys in the loop.

You’re welcome!

I'm trying to predict what I think the voters will do.

Gonzaga started at 3. Gonzaga has that beat down over a top 25 Baylor team. ISU hasn't beaten a ranked team. I think where you started the week counts a lot for the voters.

ISU started at 5. No top 25 wins so far on the season. Maybe they win up a spot ahead of Gonzaga. But I don't think the situation is "no way Gonzaga stays ahead of them." I think there's more to consider than "who did you lose to this week."

As far as Purdue: They're #13. #11 lost. #12 lost. #2 lost 3 times. Is it really that outlandish for them to leap those 3 teams?

Gotta wonder if Hurleys distractions are starting to affect the players and their performance. He sort of reminds me of Brian Kelley at LSU. Insufferable prick and there is no way the players like him. But he only brings in great talent so they get by until they decide the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

Ten ranked schools from one conference? I'm guessing that's never been seen before in the history of college basketball.

1 KU
2 Auburn
3 UT
4 Bama
5 UK
6 ISU
7 Marquette
8 Gonzaga
9 Duke
10 Purdue
11 Cincy
12 Houston
13 Wisky
14 Florida
15 Baylor

My expectations as well. Bama beat Houston and a very good (unranked) Rutgers team. I can see them jumping is OR staying behind us but ISU not falling behind us by only losing to Auburn. I think 5 is realistic best case scenario with 6 being likely as well (behind both Bama and ISU). While I'd be elated, I dont see us being number 4. I'd be stoked to be that high! I'd settle for number 5 though.
