We were an NIT team with Noel. Was losing at Florida by a dozen when he went down so 17-7 with him as it was. Losses followed at UT, Arkansas and Georgia. Noel wasn’t changing that.Noel was so good here that him getting injured made UK a NIT team.
Ugo and company are only 18-7. And have a much stronger supporting cast than Noel did.We were an NIT team with Noel. Was losing at Florida by a dozen when he went down so 17-7 with him as it was. Losses followed at UT, Arkansas and Georgia. Noel wasn’t changing that.

I’ve never understood the Archie hate. He was like a briscoe, DJ type of guard who fought but wasn’t a great shooter. That team just lacked the skill around himNoel’s problem was that he had Archie Goodwin on his team, that’s hard to overcome.
I didn’t hate him, he just couldn’t shoot and was out of control most of the time. Nerlens was the heart of that team, loved that dude.I’ve never understood the Archie hate. He was like a briscoe, DJ type of guard who fought but wasn’t a great shooter. That team just lacked the skill around him
Yeah but he is always the guy that gets mentioned as the scapegoat. He always played hard though so it just rubs me wrong.I didn’t hate him, he just couldn’t shoot and was out of control most of the time. Nerlens was the heart of that team, loved that dude.
We lost to Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT so in what way, shape or form did we deserve to be in the NCAAT? And your right no way to know if we would have lost those games just like there is no way to know if we would have still won the games we did. Noel was ok in his freshmen campaign, defensively he was outstanding, but we were likely NIT bound with him or at best an 8/9 seed and getting bounced the first weekend if not day 1.UK wasn't a NIT team period. They should have been awarded a bid over mtsu or the other cupcake they let n over UK that year.
You also have no idea how UK does against Arkansas and uga and n sec tourney with Noel.
Nothing personal against Archie but his only move was to barrel into the lane and Throw up a prayer off the shot clock. He never made it and just highlighted the train wreck that team was. I feel like we would have gotten in had Nerlens not been injured. It was close but when he went down so did all hope.Yeah but he is always the guy that gets mentioned as the scapegoat. Is it really? I'll take DJ all day and twice on Sundays. The real question is:
D.J. Wagner or Archie Goodwin?
we would of made the dance with him. Probably a 9-11 seed but we would of made it . UGA and Arky losses would never ever of happened. We were an NIT team with Noel. please tell me this isn't serious. One is when healthy a great college pg and the other was a good at best ( and average much of the time ) SG. One will be an NBA player for 10 years the other was one for what 3-4 years? The real question is:
D.J. Wagner or Archie Goodwin?
UK career? Because I don’t pay attention to what happens after that . It’s hard to compare a guy that was here less than 1 year to a guy that hopefully will be here 3 years.
Check their stats.please tell me this isn't serious. One is when healthy a great college pg and the other was a good at best ( and average much of the time ) SG. One will be an NBA player for 10 years the other was one for what 3-4 years?
I don’t want to beat on Archie, but this team has a lot better surrounding cast than Archie did, so the stats are gonna be better than DJ. I do agree that it’s close, but they also play different positions.Check their stats.
They're closer than you think.

Nerlens Noel's career has been decimated by injuries and setbacks. That guy had the talent to be a perennial ASG participant, but could never stay healthy long enough to reach what would have been lofty expectations had he been able to be healthy.
Despite all of that he was still in the league for 10 seasons and turned all of that in to a career that earned him 45 million in contracts
