It's wayyyy too early in the season to say, but in all seriousness....

Coach Mark Pope looks clearly - at this point - to be solidly at or near the top of the list.

I know time will tell, but Coach Pope is absolutely deserving of the nod at this early juncture. The media will catch up to it in due course.

I believe, when it's all said and done, you're looking at the man that will win Coach of the Year.

Thoughts?

Give it time, but he should at least be in the running at this rate. If he keeps it up, he'll be a contender. With that being said, the CoY isn't always the one with the best results. So just keep that in mind

He helped win the Duke game with coaching. He called the spin by Flagg and told them to attack the spin which caused the turnover.
He also called the long pass in the huddle. Congrats to UK media for recording those. That’s evidence.

Interesting that Gary Parrish put this up on CBSSports.com but 8 hrs ago. I THOUGHT I posted this .... aaaaaand it looks like I did. On Nov. 20. More sample sizes and more games and more and more, he is making a believer out of a lot of people, not just me, apparently.

It is December 12, 6:20 PM, and all is well in Kentucky, this I can attest in quiet, cold Morganfield. Nice to be back in the Commonwealth, indeed.

Go Big Blue ! ( what a journey THIS year, eh ? BBN ?! )

He is 100% COY if the season ended right now, and if meat sacks like Jay Williams didn't get a say.

Brand new team. 1st year at UK. Not expected to be great. Now ranked 5th. Beat Duke and Gonzaga. Zero 5-star players. Zero projected NBA draft picks. Possibly the best offense in the nation when healthy.
