What will the media occupy themselves with? Will Duke still be pushed to the forefront, but just with a new coach, or will another program become the golden child? Thoughts?

I'd give Wojo at Duke and Crean at IU lifetime contracts.

Yes...would suck to be paid millions to coach a game you love...i would hate that worse than about any damn thing i can think of

haha, yea then if you do get fired you basically are getting an annual salary without working do to the buyout.

Jay Bilas is gonna be AD and coach ..Done deal at 10 mil per annum.6 years as well guaranteed.

Talks just like K and is so up his but ...K can call in plays from his death bed

Hate both and their elitist attitudes even when they lose.i.e K has to be center of attention-media whore in everything ..

And the beat goes on flop .phantom fouls.profanity for refs and on and on

You ALL do not know good TV when you try to figure it out. Geez.... They will have a running series something like the "Most dangerous Job" (The crabbing boats) They will switch between what; Rick, BCG, and a few others are doing daily....May even include their families....jmuo

I've always wondered who Duke* would hire, they have been tight lipped about it but unless they bring in Brad Stevens I don't see a smooth transition. They are headed for some really down years. It's not easy to replace a coach of his caliber. Just like it won't be easy to find a replacement for Cal.

Bobby Hurley should get that job............instead of all the kiss asses that hang around the weasel.
It will be interesting . Jeff Capel is actually " Associate Head Coach " , so it would be kind of a slap in his face to bring in someone else . Plus he has head coaching experience . I hope it's him , I thought he was terrible at Oklahoma . I'd say coach K will have MAJOR input on the hire . Be interesting to see who his favorite Dukie . I hope it's not Hurley . That guy is a good coach .

Coach k is a great coach but, for a coach to have things go his way most of his career, he is one of the biggest crybaby's the coaching fraternity has seen. He knows he wouldn't be as successful in the pro's as he has in college, that's why he never made the jump. Coaching the Olympic team is about all he wanted of those egos, however I commend him on never giving in to coach in that league, he can retire ultra successful now with Olympic titles and NCAA titles. Not saying he wouldn't have been successful, just not as in the pro's IMO.

I think Coach K is finally on his last Plumlee. When the 24th and final Plumlee has graduated from Duke then…AND ONLY THEN…will Coach K retire.

I think either Johnny Dawkins or Bobby Hurley get the gig when K hangs it up.

It will be like watching the changing of the guard. ESPN will have an all access pass that will last one year taking you on a path of how coach k convinced college basketball to desegregate. Then we will see how he has fed the homeless, clothed the poor, and invented text messaging while coaching duke as his side gig. jalen rose will be in charge of getting all the duke greats back together as punishment for even considering duke recruits by class status. Eventually they will stop calling it the Naismith and switch to the krrrriiizzzzzzxxyymmmmyyyzzzzzz

If were lucky we may get to witness coach k giving a halftime interview

Careful what you wish for. I fully expect Ratface to be a commentator. Imagine K and V calling the Louisvile game.

K won't go anywhere.

He's a military man, a man of regimen. He doesn't know how to do anything else with his life. I once thought he'd coach still 70. I'm now starting to think he'll coach until the machine starts breaking down. That could be another decade.

Meanwhile, he's holding the position during the prime coaching years of his top former/current assistants.

It's all about K, and always has been.

Tony Molito might be available !

He won't retire, he'd fall over in front of the bench first.

Coach K is who Vitale and the former Dukies on ESPN love but the company as a whole is all about Duke and UNC. Doesnt matter who the coach is, ESPN will pimp them out because their games make ESPN the most money due to the ACC contract they have.
