Wondering why some schools got to play "charity Exhibitions" against P5 opponents while we had to play Ky Wesleyen and a D2 school? Arkansas played Kansas and TCU, Duke Played Arizona St, IU played Tennessee. There were a number of these games. What's the deal with this? is it only a certain number of teams per year? what's the deal and when will we be able to do it?

I'd rather play who we played.
Nah, I think a charity game against another D1 team would be great for us. play Cincinnati or Xavier or hell, St. John's (if they aren't on the schedule) play somebody that will challenge us. I'm sure we will get our turn at playing these games, i just figure there must be some limitations on who and when can play them from year to year.

Didn't UK play Morehead in an exhibition game for disaster relief a few years back?
UK took their team to eastern Kentucky for a team scrimmage. Proceeds went to aid flood victims. I was hoping that a scrimmage game out in the state could happen each year. I think it's great to give different parts of the commonwealth an opportunity to see the team.

It’s not rocket science. We’re using that ticket/TV deal money for NIL. Must be nice to have Tyson throwing billions at you but the rest of us have to earn it somehow.

I thought that the Crafts are really doing their part. In fact when Lewis committed it was said that the Crafts bought another player. I have seen similar info on this board so it must be accurate.

I don’t think anyone’s doubting that.

yes, there used to be a rule where you could play another D1 team, but it had to be closed and no official scorekeeping. I thought the scrimmage they did for the flood victims was a blue-white thing. either that or they got some sort of special exemption for the charity at the time. This deal now is a new thing.

UK cannot use revenue to fund NIL. That all has to come from outside private sources. There is a direct payment fund that will be a new deal and how Tennessee is getting around it with their 10% fee, but that's not NIL. That's for the direct payment the schools will be allowed to make to players.

Wait, so there is actually a rule that Universities are not even *allowed* to pay students for their Name, Image, or Likeness?

Lol.

This “NIL” stuff is making more sense all the time.
